Default how to choose a clutch!!!!!!

a commonly asked question is what clutches can hold the most horsepower? that is a real difficult question to answer concidering clutches hold TORQUE, not HORSEPOWER. horsepower is a derivative of torque and rpm. for example:two engines are equal inpeak horsepower, but acheive this peak at a much different rpm, the torque output will be significantly different. likewise, the peak horsepower is not necessarily made at the same rpm as peak torque. bolt on modifications such as exhaust, cai, ignition wires, etc. usually produce little or no change in torque output even when a sizeable increase in horsepower is acheived.while FORCED INDUCTION will generally increase both horsepower and torque, without accurate dynamometer testing, engine torque output can only be estimated. however, clutch torque capacity can be accurately calculated using a simple formula. this formula is, (T = N x F x P x R)....(T )= torque capacity in ft.lbs...(N)= number of disc surfaces (usually 2) ..(F)= coefficient of friction....(P)=lbs. of pressure plate clamp force...(R)= radius of gyration in feet. coefficient of friction..(F)= will vary from one manufacturer to another. however the average friction (F) for a organic disc slipping is ( 0.25) and on a good ceramic race disc will be at least (0.32). it is obvious that if any of these factors are increased the torque capacity will increase proportionally. this is alittle something i was reading up on and i hope it helps you guys when choosing a clutch to meet your needs....

that was not meant like that, it's meant for people who ask that question, instead of asking what clutch do i get, they can search and this will be there for them to read and come to a conclusion on which one to buy. this is for everyone, concider it an info page
