Help think somethings wrong with Axles or Tranny!!
Well lately when i start off in first gear and ease into the gas i here a little klunk, i thought maybe it was one of my motor mounts that was loose so i checked them and nothing. So then i started to spin the passenger side wheel back and forth and you hear klunk klunk klunk. I dont know what it could be. Anyone got any input? I really want to know what it is.
If it only does it after changing directions, or starting out for the first time, the safe money is bet on the passenger side upper motor mount, the vertical bolt through the rear of the mount.
Remove the front (horizontal) bolt if the rear bolt is tight, the front bolt could be broken.
For the orginal poster, if you hear a noise when turning the wheel by hand (rotating, not steering) the safe money is on the axle, outer CV to be more specific.
If it is heard when steering, or going over speed bumps, it's the control arm bushings.
If it is heard at random times, usually at initial acceleration and braking, retorque the lugnuts.

My bet was on the control arm bushings. Polyurethene here I'm coming back for ya.

I am having the exact same problem....Does it do it if you jack the car up and while it's in gear you move the wheel back and forth it clunks... on mine it's on the driver's side... I notice also when you let off you can feel the clunk in the steering wheel too. Wasn't lug nuts, wasnt wheel bearing, so either tranny or control arm bushings I guess. If I find out what it is I will let you know.

You know i have the same problem friday night i went out to the strip and i made about 11 runs on my beet up street tires and didnt do to bad but my problem was that i just got new mm inserts not use to that much stiffness so i had to adapt intead of an 1800rpm launch i feathered the clutch till i was in second and still had alot os wheel hop but by the last run i noticed i had a klunk every time i would accel boost/no boost i felt it in the floorboard i got it home today and looked for anything loose nothing then i thought could the motor mounts have something to do with it after about 4hrs of hopeing it wasnt the tranny and looking around and thought check them it coulnd hurt. I have to tell you they werent loose as hell but i gave the top and bottom a good crank and the sound is gone ill be going to do the tranny bolt and the center mm tommorrow they must have vibrated themselves out i hope my info helps
