Default Having problems getting in to all gears!!!

Hey guys, i have had my maddog 60% reduction short shifter for 4 months now. I have never really had any problems with it. It used to go in to every gear quiet smoothly. I went to the track 2 weeks ago or so and had a few runs. I took it pretty easy though all my shifts were nice and smooth apart from one time where i did not get it in to 2nd succesfully and there was some grinding. Over the past few days i been noticing it goes harder in to every gear while driving. Sometimes its hard to get it OUT of a gear, and other times its hard to get it IN to gear. It has been getting worse and worse. Now here is the thing. While the car is off it goes in to every gear as smooth as a whistle. However if the car is running it gets much harder to go in to gears. What could the problem be? Im guessing its not even the shifter its self but something beyond that?

Thanks for the help!!!

Default happened to me too

Kind of the same thing happened to me and it got fixed by regulating the clutch pedal a lil up...there a lot of threads all over this forums talking about that some of them say that wat I did is bad to the car but I'm very happy that I'm getting in all my gears like butter again....anyways I'm getting ready to buy a new clutch since I'm still with the stock one....good luck man I hope this helps and I really hope is not ur tranny .

Hmm, I know i have a similar issue. I have a maddog 80% shifter and when I was doing the install of the maddog, messed up my shifter cable and had to install a new set. During the install, I noticed the shifter cable was twisted and just simply twisted it so the bushing could be attached. Didn't think much of it until I started getting on it with the srt and noticed I was missing 2nd a lot. I would shift for 2nd and it felt like it wasn't even there. Issue got worse the harder I got on it in 1st. So now I am convinced it's just my shifter cable and I am going to take it off the tranny side and inside the car and twist the one cable.

It sounds as if your synchros are beginning to let go. This is fairly common with these transmissions due to DCx being cheap and putting in fluid(s) that can eventually cause the breakdown of the fibroid synchros.
I will be changing over to Mobil1 10W40 High Mileage engine oil this weekend (this formula still has the SL additive) to get the ATF and friction modifier out of the trans.

Huh? Are saying you're going to be putting 10w40 in the transaxle?

To the OP, try changing the trans fluid. The ATF+4 with modifier breaks down over time because of the modifier. I run Mobil1 75w90 synth gear lube, no modifiers. Works beautifully.

I just looked this stuff up and found 2 key points.

- Not recommended for automatic, manual or semiautomatic transmissions for which engine oil or automatic transmission fluids are recommended.

- Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lubricant LS 75W-90 is recommended for use in modern high performance automobiles like SUV's, Vans and Light duty trucks requiring API GL-5 and MT-1 level performance

are you using this on your SRT-4?

Yep, and I use/used it in all 3 DSM's that I own/owned over the years. If you do a search you'll see plenty of people use and swear by it. And yes, you can get it at any auto parts store like Advanced or Auto Zone.

I believe it's 2.6 quarts. I'll check the service manual when I get home to make sure. So you'd need 3 bottles.

ok this is really weird, some days it feels better than other days, sometimes nice and smooth other days very hard to get between gears. i notice the higher the rpms are the harder it is to shift, especially after driving a while. however when i start off in the morning its pretty smooth...weird

I having the same symptoms here. Tried to change my tranny fluid, but that didnt seem to help.

Im probably going to take it to dealer to see if they check if its my synchros or tob... just need a nice da(its raining of course here in the northwest) to try and reproduce the problem for them.
