I was just in the process of removing my trans to install my new Rage twin disc and I pulled my driver-side axle out to find this. It looks like the welds broke. But the axle still turns the wheels.
Yea, I know. My car came with them when I bought it. I would have just left the stock axles in. I'm hoping that they will help me out since it's not my fault that it broke in there. I'm going to try and find a stocker or go down to autozone and price one.

Stock ones would be better even if they break saves you $$money

Autozone axles are not as good as factory mopar axles. I would recommend getting some Mopar axles from your local dealer or Modern Performance... World Challenge teams tried all different makes of axles and finally found the stock axles were best.
Yes we had that happen to two of them in a row. It is from them not tempering the metal right when they weld it that is what they told us. We are waiting on our 5th! axle from them in hopes that this time they get it right.
I had one do that too. Not to mention needle bearings coming out about 6 times now. Also broke the center bar on the passenger side DSS axle once, on street tires.
Wow I was thinking I was going to be the only one. Yea I notice I was getting trans fluid in the boot the last time I had the axle out. And this time I notice after I pulled the axle that there was something stuck in the trans lol. Mine only have 6-7k miles on them and maybe 10 passes.
I had a level 5 do almost the same thing in my car, where they push the bar in and weld it on the inside. I guess the dumbass couldn't weld and it leaked tranny fluid into the boot, once the grease got enough fluid in it to turn to a liquid state, it started to come out of the boot and had shit everywhere, I think I had an inch of grease all over the damn place. I took it apart and found the shitty weld, and called them. I sent it to them on Thursday and had a new one back on Tuesday.
I will never buy another DSS axle, when these POS break, i'll rock the stockers. If you buy them from Dodge they have a 12,000 mile/1 year (i think) warranty
