Default grinding/squeal when clutch is depressed--not clutch?

i took the neon in because of a grinding/squealing noise when i depressed the clutch.

they figured it was the throw out bearings as i had suggested from feedback.

they popped in a new clutch, and the sound is still there, the advisor said. then they checked the tranny fluid, and stated they saw shavings in the fluid.

what could cause the tranny to make noise when i depress the clutch?

that dosen't really make sence, once you depress the clutch, the trans input shaft is no longer turning. so the noise must be coming from the pressure plate or throw out bearing, with the clutch out your saying it makes no noise, only with the clutch pedal pushed in does it make noise. gota be in the clutch, another member had a problem with the throw out bearing arm rubbing on the pressure plate and making a grinding noise.
