Default Funky rattling/vibrating noise upon decelleration while in gear?

Has anybody else encoutered this? I did a search and didn't find the info I need.

Background: About 2 months ago I had my transmission replaced by the dealer (3rd gear synchro issue). Now, within two days after the tranny was replaced the transmission mount either broke, or the bolt backed out (which is what I suspected due to the noise getting progressively worse over a few days). At the time it made a bad vibration that I could feel through the pedals. Got a new tranny mount and it was fixed.

Current issue: My problem at this time is when I'm in first and second gear, when I let off the throttle and let the car decellerate while still in gear, I hear this rattling noise that seems to be associated (occurs simultaneously) as when the car kind of bounces in gear immediately after I let off the gas. I only noticed the noise two nights ago in a parking garage with my drivers window down. The noise only occurs with the car in gear and decellerating.

These drivetrains/transmissions are kind of noisy in general, so I'm not sure if this is a normal noise or if something else is causing it. Anybody else have any feedback?

On a side note, does anybody else's first gear seem to always be sticky going in to gear unless you're at a complete stop?

This is a brand new transmission in the car so for these two things to be happening has me a little concerned.

I have always suffered from this noise. I have noticed the noise reduces when I press in the clutch pedal. I tend to ignore considering I have never had any tranmission issues from the time I bought it off the lot to now. Never had any synchro issues either. It almost sounds like a rattling throwout bearing to me though... and I am rolling around on my stock clutch.

Thanks for the feedback. The gearbox has always been noisy because, let's face it, it's not exactly precision. Maybe being in the parking garage just made it seem louder than it normally is.

mine does this as well. however, Mine does it at an idle, and stops when mash the clutch in. I don't know if it supposed to do this or not. I think it is the throw out bearing.

I would guess so. Everything is always louder when you're in a garage of up against a wall (like when going through a drive-thru).

I know this thread is old and I hate to bring it back from the dead but I seem to be having this same noise, and the car does it upon deceleration while in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. This noise is fairly loud, and seems to be getting worse, it almost sounds like my first three gears are straight cut like reverse, accept they only make the noise during deceleration while in gear. I have not had the car very long because I just bought it used but it only has 4,000 miles on it and it has not been driven very hard. Is this noise normal? because it makes the car sound like shit.

Question Mee too

Today I rolled into my garage and noticed a loud rattling noise comming from tranny when clutch was out. Never noticed before. Sounds like something is out of wack or loose. Noticed before I got to my street when I down shifted It gave me some problems going into 3rd gear... like gears weren't there or snycro was off, Iduno? wierd. Hopefully noise goes away and it corrects itself. Otherwise I guess I'll have to go to dealer to get checked out. Still got the 7/70 powertrain, I guess. Not sure if all my mopar mods will void warranty. Guess I'll find out....dealer has been cool in past with stuff happening to car, but nothing this major.

No you definitely don't have the same noise and remember anything is going to be amplified when you pull into a garage. It is not hard for me to get the car in gear and it actually shifts great, it just makes that weird grinding chattering noisy while decelerating in gear with the clutch engaged. This is generally called engine breaking.

Oh boy

Yesterday I went to go to work and spining chattery noise all of sudden stopped and stopped motor at same time while jumping the car forward. Then the engine kept running after jerk. Seems like something broke and got hung up. luckly engine was at idle speed otherwise I feel more damage would have happened. Not sure if this is the same problem I've heard with 2005 models having modular unit break and cause tranny/engine damage.

Well, car now sits until I can buy a new clutch....any recondmendations? Lots out there. Got like 240hp to wheels and 260tq. Stage 2, Beast IC, 55mm DCR TB, Maxxfab O2 housing, Mopar cat delete with mopar catback modded at end with single straight thru muffler. Guess at crank Hp would be around 270 or so. Iduno. Does it take a mechanics degree to put a clutch in? Done major jobs like timing belts, head gaskets, valve adjustments and half shafts on other cars I've owned, but never a clutch.

Mines making this same noise the first person described. Its only when im in gear and decelerating. It's never been a big deal because I blast music but if it can be fixed I would fix it. I too have problems getting into my first and second gear. I can never down shift into first unless i try to rev match it. Second doesn't always work out either. Any info will make me happy.
