Default Flywheel Bolts

I'm Putting in a new clutch and I got the ACT Xtreme street clutch and it comes with the streetlite flywheel which is alot thick then the stock flex plate and I was wondering what size bolts people have used? If they used stock or got longer bolts?

I just used the stockers and no problems so far. make sure you use locktite on all of them and torque them really well

We designed our forged flywheel (assuming you have our forged flywheel) to use the stock bolts since they are a better grade than what is readily available. The stock bolts are grade 12.9 and the only ones we could find without spending (and therefore charge) a crazy amount of money for custom bolts were grade 10.9.

I just used my stock flywheel bolts on my act clutch today and when i tightened them down my engine would not spin over... the bolts were too long... is there supposed to be a plate that goes behind the flywheel bolts... it seems on all the other ones i have installed had a back plate... Please get back to me asap...

even though they designed itto be used with the stockers that isn't the best way.. first off in the manual it say to never reuse thouse bolts second most venders will say to use the 95 neon flywheel bolts make sure you say the one with the non modular clutch they are longer adn the same grade. as for grade 12.9= grade 8 one is metric

If the bolts are too long, they will bottom out on the rear bearing journal. But if you have the stock flywheel bolts there is no way they are too long. Are you sure you have the stock bolts? The stock flexplate and bolt plate are thinner than our flywheel so there should be no problem.

Be sure there is clearance between the back of the disc and the heads of the bolts. Also make sure they are 12.9 grade or you are asking for trouble.

They are 12.9 grade bolts... they come with my clutchmaster kit... Ran them for a year with those

as far as the clearance all seemed well.... I just dont understand why act does not send bolts with their kits.... i didnt even get the bolts to bolt the pressure plate to the flywheel...

The clutch bolts are included in the kit, unless the vendor is stocking components and not kits or somehow we missed it. We don't include the flywheel bolts because usually the customer has the stock bolts which are a better grade than what is commonly available, and to include them would be increase the cost unnecessarily to most customers. Keep in mind that for ACT doesn't get a big discount from Mopar so to sell the bolts and have margin for WDs to make a buck, etc would make them pretty expensive. I know what you are saying though because we wrestled with it. Ultimately, we didn't think that forcing the customer to buy these bolts at a premium was in the customer's best interest.

I see where you are comming from, however I think that it needs to be made clear up front that there are no bolts. this way the customer can plan ahead. The bolts from dodge, since you need to replace them everytime, can take a week or more to come in. NOw in my case I waited a month for my clutch only to find out once I got it that there are no bolts. I could have long since had them and been ready to go, but instead I was delayed another week for bolts.
