Default comp clutch?

well i just purchased a used werks transmission off someone here on the forums and he told me it had a stage 3 competition clutch in it... i was wondering if anyone else had/seen one of these before... it looks like all it is, is a stock pressure plate and flywheel (driveplate? i think on a modular clutch) but it has a different hub disc in the middle... i took it apart and its a 6 puck design... this is the first time ive ever messed with a transmission so i dont know if this is a legit clutch to put in or not... just kinda seems like it was rigged to work... my other option would be a stock clutch i have sittin around with only 4k on it in great shape... but im going to be goin big turbo this winter and it wont hold for long. any opinions on this... i can take pics if it would help?

Warning: Regardless of brand, with how blue that stock flywheel is on the backside, it looks like a time bomb just waiting to explode! The gray iron material is known for catastrophic failure when you apply heat and rpm.

I'm telling you right now from experience, competition clutch only makes a Stage 1 Gravity Clutch that is in a 6 puck configuration so the un-educated may think it is a S3 clutch when in essence its not. And I know this because I have it in my car right now and it shit the bed on me so I would say replace it asap, its not a bad clutch, just doesn't hold up to the wear and tear I guess. As soon as I up'd my boost it started to give me problems and that is with 5k - 10k miles on it (closer to the 5k side). I plan on replacing with a clutchmasters S4 clutch once I get the money for it. Hope this helps you identify your clutch. Oh and I got a kit so it came with everything needed but its matched to work on the stock flywheel...I think...can't remember so if I'm wrong plz don't burn me to bad for it aight guys. lol.

well i decided to spend the extra money and get a new clutch. anyone have any suggestions... im running 280whp estimated to the wheels and track it about 10 times a summer(radials).... and drive the shit out of it on the street...

i was thinkin about getting the clutchmasters stage 4 with a 6 puck on mpx for 599... pretty good deal... should i go modular tho or non-modular? and is installing a non-modular clutch more of a PITA? cause i dont have access to a lift...

Definitely do non modular. I just put an act unsprung 6 puck in and shifting is amazing compared to how it was with the centerforce modular clutch I had, of course replacing the tob fork probably helped a good bit as well. For your power, I'd also say go with a street disc.

well i plan on going big turbo within the next 6 months maybe sittin around 400whp or so next summer... thats why i was thinkin a puck design would be be better... and with a non modular clutch is it harder to get the transmission back in place when reinstalling it cause you have to line the clutch up to the input shaft if i understand how it works properly?
