Clutch Problems - Come in here

Ok, so recently after my tranny tear down thread, i've been swamped with PMs about tranny issues and clutches.

Now I want to start a thread in where guys can put in their .2 cents about their issue and possibly we can come to an understanding on whats going on here with the SRT-4 clutch/hydraulic system design.

The most popular going around is the disengagement issue/Hard shifting.

The most valuable thing you can own is the PL/SRT FSM, go out and get one.

Now according to the book this is what is says:

HARD SHIFTING

Hard shifting may be caused by a misadjusted crossover cable. If hard shifting is accompanied by gear clash, synchronizer clutch and stop rings or gear teeth may be worn or damaged.
Hard shifting may also be caused by a binding or broken shift cover mechanism.
Remove shift cover and verify smooth operation. Replace as necessary.
Misassembled synchronizer components also cause shifting problems.
Incorrectly installed synchronizer sleeves, keys, balls, or springs can cause shift problems.

SLIPS OUT OF GEAR

Transaxle disengagement may be caused by misaligned or damaged shift components, or worn teeth on the drive gears or synchronizer components. Incorrect assembly also causes gear disengagement. Check for missing snap rings.

CLUTCH PROBLEMS

Worn, damaged, or misaligned clutch components can cause difficult shifting, gear clash, and noise. A worn or damaged clutch disc, pressure plate, or release bearing can cause hard shifting and gear clash.

since we're talking about clutches here, I got a story and a question as well. 3 months ago i was driving and the transmission was acting up really bad. With a couple of guys on the forums i was able to come to the conclusion that the clutch was burned. I gave it to the dealer to fix it and the guy calls me up and tells me that i have to spend 4 grand for a new tranny!!! The thing is, my car has 19 thousand miles and never modified once. Whos right here!?!?! Even if it were to be the transmission, am I really suppose to pay 4 grand? This is bullshit.

So i need to just pump it for a while ? it was real loose like it had nothing at first , then i pumped it a few seconds and took the lid off the thing you put the fluid in and air came out , and it gave me a little clutch but still wouldnt go in gear.

^^^ The same thing happened to mine yesterday upon installation. Clippy/Guide/Snap thing on throwout bearing broke right off... The design sucks on the throwout bearings for our cars.

I just installed my CM S4 today. I had no resistance at all after hoping in my srt and pushing the clutch to the floor. I pumped it a few times and it was ok. My brakes were the same way. Right now 1st gear is real touchy, you go or you dont, but it seems like its slipping at 2500rpms and up. I guess its not broke in yet??? I do not know...

did the cannonball this year. prepping my car out. put in the mopar clutch (along with every other mopar part including stage 3). after 200 easy miles (really), first lap, first turn at IRP, it sheared some rivets, and spun. nice. p.o.s. so we put the stocker back in an overnight thrash (luckily it was a 100 flatbed ride back to our shop) and put up with like 3000 road miles and a weeks worth of track time.

I bought my car in May 05 and i now have 11k miles on it, since i bought my car i have noticed the hard shifting problem. I brought it to the dealer and they said everything was all good and that i was imagining the problem . Well about 2 months later for some weird unknown reason all my gears locked up so i couldnt get into any gear. Ever since then things have gone downhill, it still shifts hard and every time i go to put it in reverse it grinds or makes a big clunkin' sound. After bringing it to the dealer to get it checked out they tell me it was my clutch and they wont fix it cause i have an AGP WGA and about have treadwear life left!! Arent the KDWs supposed to last about 20k?! I already reported them to the BBB, this is bullshit!
