I need to buy a clutch for my Srt but can't decide which one to go with. I was originally going to buy a SPEC but have recently heard some bad things on them and was told to go with a centerforce or ACT. Just wanted to hear your guys thoughts and suggestions. Thanks
I have had a spec Stage 2 for over 3 years and it has slipped 0 times on me. Great for a mild bolt on application. I will be upgrading to the ACT 6 puck Sprung though, either way both are great options.
More details on what is done to the car are needed to make a proper suggestion. If you would like to talk more in depth feel free to contact us and we will help you out.

Well Ihad A spec stg 2 with alum. flywheel on my first gen and was not happy with it. Seemed like it wouldnt grab like normal after one pass at the track. I am familiar with the ACT clutches from my DSM days and loved them!
I hear modular clutches that are one peace can explode depending how much power you put on it.
Typically it's not power than causes this, but too many rpms. Modular clutches and high rpms don't mix at all. Even if they clutch doesn't fly apart, you'll have shifting issues for sure. I had a centerforce dual friction modular clutch for 2 years and to my knowledge it never slipped on me with 400+whp, and there at the end before I replaced it, I was 500+. The driveability of that clutch was perfect, but I turn 7200 and between it and a worn out tob fork, I couldn't hardly shift it period, much less wot shifting. I just replaced it with an unsprung act 6 puck and I love it. It's not as smooth as the centerforce was, but it works. I can wot shift the car at 6800 like butter. I wouldn't recommend this clutch for everyone though. For someone with basic mods and a stock limiter, a modular clutch will do fine.
Oh and I've never heard anything but bad stuff out of Spec clutches. I've had a few friend who had them in a few different types of cars and they all failed very prematurely.

The sound of chatter? if that's what you mean then yeah somewhat, but it's pretty easy to learn to drive around that and make it minimal. The only thing I really dislike about it is the noise/vibration it makes when decelerating but for not being able to shift the car for 2-3 years, its a very small trade off in my eyes.

no i got the gear rattle im talking a loud god awful noise. ill have to make a vid because i cant explain it
I can hear mine vaguely with the car idling with the clutch out, but driving it isn't very noticeable at all. I have noticed it when I downshift into 3rd to do a pull but I know everyone with this clutch experiences that so I don't worry about it. The tranny has everything it can possibly have done to it besides being a dogbox so I think it'll be alright. I couldn't be happier with it and I daily drive it like this.
I must be more of a man than yall lol. It's really not that bad at all. I expected it to suck ass after reading all of this stuff on here by yall and others.
