Clutch amateur
Well a few weeks ago I went to do a 4th gear dyno pull and the RPMs shot up and the MPH barely moved. Yes, classic signs of a slipping clutch I know.
Now on to my question - I take it clutches only slip under high loads unless they're totally shot? I ask this because if I'm in 3rd gear and give the car maybe 50% throttle, the car pulls amazingly well with no slipping. I go WOT, however, and the RPMs just skyrocket and I don't get anywhere. Basically all of my car's power is at 50% throttle (LOL). This is a regular happening? I was not under the impression that if a clutch is slipping it's not going to "transfer" the power at some times and then "slip" it at others. I figured when a clutch slips, it slips any time you add a decent amount of load to the motor, but I guess it's all indicative of throttle and how fast it has to transfer from the crank to the clutch assembly itself?
