I think mine just broke yesterday im looking on the drivers side i see a little bit of axle grease splurt on the chasis. Im not even gonna bother wit it imma have it towed to the dealership rather than fuck with it. And then im going to have them install the clutch from clutchmasters with it.

Grease. Sounds like you broke an axle, popped a coupler off, or something of that nature. Normally an input shaft will let you think you have it in gear but clutch out and all it wont go anywhere.

Broken axle, for sure. It's going to be your passenger side axle, too! The fact that the speedo jumps when you let off the clutch in gear is a dead giveaway that your intermediate shaft is turning (that's where the speed sensor gets it's reading from). So, somewhere after the intermediate shaft, you've broken something. It could be, and is likely the axle, but the possibility of the end of the intermediate shaft being broken is there as well.

well heres the thing with mine i examined my situation a little more closely now when i jacked up the car both wheels sping. I took a closer look at the axles itself and the metal part that connects into the tranny does not sping the side that snaps in but when i turn the wheel itself everything else does. that was the drivers side as for the passengers side that side spins with with the assembly that connects into the tranny. So could it be that just my drivers side axle just broke

It's almost certain that yours is the driver side axle, and not an input shaft either. The grease on the driver side would indicate the problem likely lies within the knuckle, closest to the transmission. The fact that everything but the inside knuckle on the driver side spins when turned by hand is also a good indicator that the driver side axle is spent.

Did most of you guys replace the clutch too when you fixed the broken input shaft? Or did you re-use the clutch you had before?

Trying to figure out if the clutch gets damaged during an input shaft failure. Opinions?

Ive heard some say you have to replace it because it warps the disc, Ive heard others say no you dont have to. Personally I have not ever replaced a clutch from breaking an input shaft and its never given me any problem. Ive broken 3 shafts and the clutches have still worked fine.

Chris.

hey. newbie here. When I take off, say more slowly than usual, the car shudders something fierce. Obviously this isnt an input shaft or axle failure, as my car goes - pretty darn fast too. No mods whatsoever - so what could that shudder be . . .

Also, the clutch dont release all the way. I read a few posts, could that be the clutch fork is toast?
