Default bad rack and pinion ???

hey guys.. the other day while going down the road i noticed that the car was becoming hard to turn.. about 2 or 3 miles from my house i had to turn and i can hear the ps pump whining..

got it home and tryed to locate where the leak was coming from. after looking i really couldnt tell where it was coming from, if it was actualy something on the r&p or if it was just a line.. so yesterday i finally took the car to my aunts shop to let the mech look at it..

he said it looked like it was coming from the steering part of the r&p and suggested that i try something called "white shepard" which was 20$ for 8 oz.. i put that in and it didnt seem to work so now im sure i need a new rack and pinion.

my question is can is since im halfway getting used to no power steering, could i run with the ps belt off to avoid messing the pump up anymore if it hasnt already?? i really need the car and i dont have the dough for the r&p or the labor which id try to do myself.. oh, and then he said my car is too low to get on his alignent rack... eibach pro kit

The only thing that it could hurt would be your rack & pinion but if it's already gone then no problema, ohh yea and your arms for in the city driving haha
