Default ACT Street Clutch Kit grinds when engaged[HELP]

Well I bought the ACT Street Clutch Kit with the flywheel about a week ago. Had it installed by someone a friend recommended.

When I picked up the car he said because of what the clutch was... when I engage the pedal all the way down its going to feel like grinding under my foot... but that after about 10,000 miles it would go away.

I didn't feel right at all about what he said.. but since I have no experience on clutches.. and am pretty much learning cars as I go I couldn't really call BS.

Now after driving the car for a week.. I find that sometimes I'll engage the pedal fully.. and there is no grinding at all. But MOST of the time when the pedal is fully engaged I can feel a terrible rumbling grinding under my foot, and theres a loud grinding noise.. clearly audible on inside and outside of the car.

Now he also said that my transmission fluid was low and he replaced that. I asked to make sure he added the OEM required fluid and he said yes he did. I forgot to ask if he added.. I think its the Limited Slip or Smoothing additive?

And now my tranny fluid is also leaking all over my driveway.. and hes saying thats because my seals are bad...

Can I get some second opinions on this guys work?

the leaking is because of the seals which happened to me when i installed my clutch (buy a axle seal at the dealership unless it is both sides and have a place install if u can't do yourself). the other problem is the clutch pedal adjust the clutch pedal. loosen the 10 or 8mm bolt can't remember which one at the time until the clutch loosens. put a finger on the clutch pushing it in roughly a half of an inch and tighten the bolt. this will help a lot believe me.

So you are saying my clutch is grinding and rumbling underneath my foot.. and that I need to adjust the clutch pedal out about a half inch so it wont depress all the way... and that its not a bad thing?

I think wear on the clutch arm is most likely the cause for the grinding (see link below):

Clutch disengaging problems Fixed, read inside!

It is true that it may get better as the disc wears, since the fingers of the pressure plate get higher which places the arm further away from the pressure plate.

Well my clutch has ZERO problems disengaging.. It shifts fine if I only push it a little into clutch resistance.. and it also shifts fine if I push it down all the way to the ground... its just that I can feel rumbling under my foot.

So this is all normal and I just gotta wait for it to grind down?

My axle seals started leaking after I installed my new clutch also. The seals are only 30 bucks but damn you have to remove the axles all over again. I think that noise is from the crappy design of the throw-out-bearing.

x2. I had this EXACT issue on a customers car after I installed his ACT clutch (which I always recommend). He couldn't get a new clutch fork in time so I reused his old one. I had to adjust the pedal outwards a bit. But problem solved!

Adjust the pedal, adjust the cross over cables, and adjust the engine torque strut. Bleed the slave if it was disconnected. These are covered in the factory service manual.

If you still have issues afterwards and you did not install a new fork with the new clutch then order a new fork and yank the tranny back out and install it. Just remember to go though the above adjustments any time the tranny is removed. Any time one of the mounts is removed so it can be upgraded or serviced the upper torque strut adjustment needs to be done.

Their website says the street version is good up to 470ft lbs and it should feel pretty much like stock. I'm in the market for a new clutch and was just wondering how everyone using the "street" version likes it. Would it be a good match for a stage 3 car?
