Default 3rd gear grinding!!! not synchro tho....

sp i just had my trans rebuilt and when i got it back my 3rd gear grinds really bad on up and down shifts and reqlly doesnt wanna go into 3rd gear at all! i put in a southbend stage 3 clutch and an agp shift selector and im running syncromesh fluid in trans..... the only thing i did not replace was the tob fork and shifter forks.... do you think that would cause a 3rd gear only grind?? could it be a shifter linkage issue?? im really lost please someone give me your opinions thanks

A bent/worn shift fork will definately cause the gear to grind...also was the 3rd/4th gear and 3rd/4th gear synchro replaced?

A worn 3rd gear will cause grinding. If you had a grinding issue before and ONLY replaced the synchro, then you that's probably the problem. Also a bent 3/4 fork can cause some grinding, usually it will just pop out though. If you try to hold it in gear that's where the grinding would come from. If the outer snap ring was left off or has popped off the input shaft around the sealed roller bearing on the end that will cause grinding as well. Pull the guts back out and inspect them.
