Well...drove it today...and it runs very very well. But...drove it around, let it get to operating tempurature...running great (trans is another issue), but engine was running awesome.
Then a check engine light popped on, but it was still running good. Layed into it, and it wouldn't rev past 3500... Drove home and checked the code...P0016. Looks like cam/crank misalignment. But its running excellent otherwise. :/ And checked the oil out, no more milky froth. Changing it one more time with a lucas additive later tonight. But looks like I'm pulling the timing covers to see if the belt jumped a tooth. Anyone have any shortcuts for that big ass fricken bracket on the side? |

Good point Tyler!!
Kegs I'm glad everything is going good for ya man! If your ever in the area hit us up! As far as the bracket.. There is no easy way.. It's easy when the turbo and manifold are off the car( more room to work with). But no need to take them off. Just jack up the motor till the turbo is touching the firewall and work it out. That's the mother fucker of the job. Yes our cars have oil coolers. Oil cooler bolts to the oil pan and is what the oil filter it attached too. There are coolant lines that run into also so clamp them lines before you take them off so you don't loose all the coolant. Make sure when your timing marks are lines up on the cams the stamping is pointed up (you'll know what I mean when you look at them) I'm guessing your crank rolled a little when you were putting the belt on Autoguide.com App

Yes, that brake took me awhile when I put it all back together...lol
And I checked it through the peep hole in the timing cover...I'm about 4-5 teeth off between cam gears...I even spun it over a few times. Looks like I'm pulling it apart again tomorrow. Meh :/ At least I know the source of my rough idle...haha. |

When doing the timing i found it alot easier to put the belt on everything and put the idler pulley on last. instead of trying to pry it over the tensioner u just take the idler pulley off and then install it after putting the belt on everything else. just becareful u dont cross thread it cus of the belt pulling on it...
This saved me alot of cussing and was easier to keep everything lined up and junk. did you guys see this accident? Hagerstown man killed in fiery crash had history of violations - herald-mail.com

Yup...redid the timing, car idles smooth as can be and no more CEL. Pulls very well.
I have no third whatsoever, so going to look into getting a new 3rd gear shift fork...you just hear the synchros buzz when you try for third. I believe the clutch pivot ball is worn as well, but third isn't there...lol But one piece at a time. It was cheap enough it doesn't bother me. Did put 50 miles on it tonight though...and its running excellent and cool. A hair below half to a hair above. |

Yessir...haha.
Does anyone have an extra oil cooler laying around they'd get rid of? Mine was crushed when jacking the engine up for the motor mount :/ It wasn't leaking, after the drive last night...its leaking badly. |

Nevermind thats not where its leaking...its the power steering cooler that was damaged and powersteering is fine. :/
Better not be the brand new turbo drain hose. That thing is a PITA. GUess I'll go investigate. |

I have a set of stock springs that were on my car for about 5,000 miles if anyone wants them. Free or shipping costs only, but I'd prefer to meet up somewhere and hand them over. I'll be trashing them in the next few days so hop on it.
