I used to be a jeep tech. My dealer dont own the franchise anymore since 2010. I'm back to the good ole Toyotas now. I know that's the 6speed u have in your liberty. Never had 1 apart. U having issues with it?

but i have some ideas for changes to it.

basically I want to re-gear it...
change 1st (4.46) out to the 5.01 from the euro version
leave 2nd and 3rd alone
replace 4th with 6th but swap the gears around on the shafts
replace 5th with 4th but swap the gears around on the shafts
replace 6th with 3rd but swap the gears around on the shafts

so basically the ratios for 1-6 would go
from... 4.46 2.61 1.72 1.25 1 0.84
to... 5.01 2.61 1.72 1.19 0.8 0.58

I'd also switch out the diffs to 4.10's. I'd get a nice 20:1 1st/LO gear for towing takeoffs, and better spacing between gears for all other times. should also see improved fuel economy. stock (3.55 rear, 0.84 OD) I'm turning 2000rpm @ 60mph. with the proposed setup (4.10 rear, 0.58 OD) I'd be 1600rpm @ 60mph.

so the question is, are the gears switchable on the shafts like that.
