I just installed a Traction control unit so now i actually have traction, i was launching the car on street tires for once yesterday about 4 times in a row, it was around 90+ degrees out and i noticed my clutch starting to slip real bad. The pedal became real sticky and wouldnt grab until the pedal was real high and when i would take off from a 3rd gear pull and hit boost it would just rev up. I was told since its Kevlar and it got real hot it should recover? Is this normal? Will it happen everytime i race, or only when it gets real hot? Does every clutch do this? Or is it because im pushing too much power for the clutch? this is the first time it has slipped since i got it on 15,000 miles ago...i cant afford another clutch right now so im hoping its not toast....

Well the Kevlar clutch is not meant for racing because it does not handle extreme heat very well. It does sound like you glazed the Kevlar but if you take it through the break in process again (500 miles of normal stop and go) you may get it to come back to life again.

Thats funny, I had the same problem today when I got on the freeway in 3rd, revs but no go. Same mileage put on the clutch too. I live in the Bay Area (California) and I'm in heavy traffic everyday. Clutch does not engage well, and the pedal is real soft everytime I'm in traffic. But when it cools after it sits for a while, it seems to grab alot better. I will deffinately try breaking it in again. Hopefully that will work.

Yeah but its a stage 3 performance clutch, i thought it was like street and strip? Should i have went with the stage 4 instead? oh and i let it sit overnight, got on it again and it didnt slip it only seems to do it when it gets hot, once it cools its fine...

It is meant to handle the strip if you let it cool down between runs, but in reality the stage 3 is just a performance upgraded street clutch. If you are doing hard launches and pulls often then yes I think you would be better off with the stage 4. Just run the stage 3 for now and if you decide on upgrading then we could have your kit rebuilt and upgraded to the stage 4 later.
What's the cost of having the stage 3 upgraded to a S4? I've got the stage 3 right now and I've got the driver mod on order, I know I'm going to need another clutch that can handle the power.

It varies on the amount of components that need replaced, but an average cost to rebuild this clutch $350.
