Default New to these clutches.....

Kind of a long read, I can tell you that now. Last Sunday, 04/09/06, I and a 20+ year mechanic friend of mine installed a used FX700 twin disk clutch with less than 2k miles in my car. We looked the clutch over and other than a lil dust and a few cosmetic scratches it looked fine, so we installed it with a new Mopar throwout bearing. When I started the car up I could not even begin to get it in gear from nuetral, and trying to do so the car would start to move. Finally after messing with the pedal adjustment and bleeding the hydraulic assembly we pushed the car out side, put it in gear and started it, which immediately caused the car to start moving even with the clutch pedal pressed right into the carpet. We figured that between being used, then sitting/shipping it might have froze up a bit, so I drove it best I could for maybe a mile, then I could shift it, sort of.....Well anyways more i drove it better it felt until today when I tried to go to work. I get half way there and the clutch was feeling ok, held all the power and shifted fine. I had to stop at an intersection that was at the base of a long hill, I barely got over the hill it was slipping so bad! It was like someone had floored the clutch pedal on me when I wasn't looking! Thing went from unable to get into gear without a fight from lack of engagement to unable to disengage in less than 30 miles!! I managed to limp it into a Chrysler dealer, I am gonna let them mess with it, I have had it with clutches, LOL!!

Now my question is if this is the clutch how much do these cost to rebuild, and how long is the turn around time? I found that the previous owner had blown 2 transmissions with this clutch, I am wondering if there was something wrong we could not see or if it was just because he was driving it way too hard? I guess he kept breaking the input shaft on WOT shifts from 3-4. If I had known this I would not have bought it, I thought he was just parting out his car to trade in on a better one, LOL!

"The Cobalt firmly grabs you and whisks you along your way instantly. It does so with authority and poise, but while slipping relatively unnoticed through traffic, never being violent, or dare I say it, frightening. When you ask the SRT-4 to take you somewhere fast, it punches you in the face, throws you over its shoulder, and runs, screaming, so quickly that its tires can barely keep up."

Sounds like a hydraulic issue to me? Anyways, we would be happy to take a look at the clutch for you. The cost to rebuild the clutch all depends on the condition of it, so we would have to have you ship it in to our main shop so our techs could take a look at it and get you a quote on the cost of the parts needed to rebuild it.

As far as the turn around time, once we get the kit in the shop we can usually have it shipped back out to you be the next day.

For more information on the rebuild process and return process please call our main shop at (909) 877-6800, I would ask for Luis as he handles the twin discs.
