Default Brand new CM Stage 4 Clutch, a piece broke off of the flywheel..

What is this metal looking cap?

That damn thing broke during a high boost run and made a very loud bang.
I am fortunate that I didn't sustian a ton of damage from this thing.

It appears to be press fit and not welded...

If that is the case I can no longer recommend anybody purchase a CM Clutch till this issue gets addressed... Who wants a ticking time bomb...?

again, what is the purpose of this piece?

I would recommend spot welding the piece. We always do when doing higher horsepower cars now. The clutch shouldnt be damaged. Hopefully it didnt hurt anything else. I wouldnt recommend that clutch for you anyhow Lucy. I doubt it would last long at the strip with your current setup. You might want to step up to the twin disk

if the twin disc still uses the modular design (flex plate/flywheel/4 bolts attaching it) then I don't think the twin disc is going to withstand big power either. The discs/pressure plate in and of themselves might, but the flexplate/flywheel modular design is a big area of concern...

I have ordered a Fidanza flywheel, I plan on having the CM Stage 4 disc and pressure plate installed on it, and we'll see how that holds up.

The twin disc attaches to a standard style flywheel with 6 bolts. The clutch was originally designed for circle track racing. Most of the 1000hp+ cars run a dual disc or triple disc clutch. I just put one in my car. Absolutly amazing.

I made some inquiries to Nemo about his twin disc setup...

I am very curious as to the construction of both his and the CM offering...
