Default Quick question about your 3" DP...

I'm sure you've gotten these questions many times before, but I'm looking for the latest word since I noticed your current version of the downpipe is v.5 and I'm not sure what changes you have made throughout your revisions. Anyway my questions are:

1) Does the block off plate truly form an air tight seal? It almost hard to believe that those simple plates being held by wingnuts can restrain the amount of pressure behind it, especially over a long period of time.

2) Is there any maintenance I need to perform on a regular basis to maintain it? Such as spraying it with WD-40 to prevent the wing nuts from seizing up, etc.

I have mine for awhile now and I can vouch for Needswings that the cutout is air tight. As long as you tighten the wing nuts really tight. Only maintenance I've had to do is replace the gasket every once in awhile. Depends on how often you open the cutout.

I agree with the above post... Also if you get the electric cutout mine has made a nice air tight seal without any issues. I love it!! if you get the electric one you car use lock tight to make sure it is not going to back your screws off.. Good luck hope this helps!

yes there is a gasket between the block off plate and cutout flange which seals very well.

the pipe is all stainless, no maintnance required, if you ever lose a wing nut i can just drop one in the mail

Honestly his dp's are awesome. I had one on my car in 2006. Totaled it and it sat on the motor for 2 years without being removed. Im swapping the motor into a new car now and the dp looks as good as the day I got it (minus some dirt). The welds are perfect, no cracks, nothing wrong with it. It will go on the new car this weekend after we drop the motor in. Ive had a few different dp's, but robs is the best by far. Put it this way. After I totaled my car I sold all my aftermarket parts besides the dp. Thats got to say something.

Mine seals airtight and I don't even put the wing nuts on very tight. Infact one of the wing nuts fell off, then it sounded horrible.
I bought four new shiny wingnuts from ACE for a dollar.
