I found a list when I was surfing the net on one of the other forums. I have not seen this before. I have a link to our forum since I have the image linked to it.
I want to be clear that Coolingmist is not suggesting to use windshield washer fluid, however many of you do with no problems. Always use common sense. Also, I cannot make any claims as to the accuracy of this list. Always do your own research. i hope some of you find this useful.
I thought heet was mostly if not all methanol. maybe someone will confirm?
found this on the audi forums, a conversation cut and paste between a user over there and someone at gold eagle products (the makers of HEET)
Quote:
ORIGINAL: Email traffic between Me and HEETâ„¢
Me: I just have a quick question about HEET ingredients.
I recently installed a water/methanol injection system on my vehicle. The system uses a 50/50 water/methanol solution and injects it directly into the Turbo charge pipe after the intercooler and just prior to the throttle body. Can you tell me the methanol and water content % in HEET gasline antifreeze and also in the HEET windshield anti-ice concentrate product?HEETâ„¢: While ,I can't comment on your specific application HEET gasoline Antifreeze is 99.90% Methanol ~0.10 water.
To get 50% by volume methanol water mix use it 1:1 ME:
What about the HEET windshield de-ice concentrate? It's blue... and it says 4 parts of de-ice concentrate to 5 parts water for protection to -25FWhats the methanol content in that one?HEETâ„¢ : Do Not use windshield wash
I can not under any circumstances recommend HEET Windshield De-Icer Concentrate ,There are other additives in it.ME: The company that makes it... actually advises that regular windshield washer fluid is a great alternative to the fluid THEY produce since almost all windshield washer fluids contain at least 40% methanol. Can you at least tell me the methanol content?HEETâ„¢ : My Point is that there are surfactants/ which foam /and anti corrosion additive in ours: Do Not Use to run in an injection sustem
Methanol content for Windshield de-ice Concentrate is 95%v/v
a little confusing to read, some weird characters thrown about, but you get the idea.
so you're not supposed to use heet according to that convo??
good info in the first post, thanks
No he's saying don't use HEET windshield de-ice which I believe is the red bottle, he didn't say anything against HEET gas-line antifreeze (yellow bottle).
