Default What do your plugs look like when injecting W/M?

I've only got one read on mine so far, but the interesting things I noticed were:

1) No signs of det, which I had a slight bit of before.

2) A lot of sooty appearance on the insulator and even inside the steel shell of the plug. I had pristine looking plugs all of the time before, other than slight traces of detonation indicators. This is only one read though, so maybe there was an out of the norm condition than caused this sootiness.

Just wondering what others see.

Thanks in advance of course!

Someone must look at your plugs for tuning? No?

Should not get any soot with meth injection. Did you change gas stations recently?

I didn't. . . . I'll have to think about what else might have changed.

No way to see what the combustion chamber looked like before hand but it sounds like the W/A is breaking up some of the carbon deposits that existed prior to W/A injection. Bore scope in the plug holes would give a better indication of what the combustion chamber looks like. I would figure that at some point you should not see any more.

All things considered (proper tune & hardware) Plugs with W/A injection should look pristine......................on a car with it running for some time.

Take a look at some threads for images in the for sale section or in the engine section that show the combustion chambers. Most of the time with millage and such you will see that the combustion chambers are full of carbon deposits. Cars running W/A for a while do not show this same trait = chambers including piston tops look good.

Thanks Jack, that sounds like a very plausible explanation of what might be happening. It will be interesting to see if the condition goes away over time.

I'm pretty freakish about my plugs, since I'm currently running a stock Neon 2.0 liter long block with about 140k miles on it, and my SC61 is boost creeping up to about 20.5psi after 7k RPMs (creeping to 17.5psi prior to W/A injection, when I let the boost build a bit more). It should have blown up by now, but I have used my electronic det cans and spark plug inspection with high magnification to keep the detonation under control.

Anyway, it's nice to have a bit of tuning related discussion, thanks! ! !
