Default Switched Source?

I'm installing my W/I kit and the wiring diagram calls for a switched source that comes on only when the car is on. Can someone explain how to do this? I'm new to auto wiring and don't want to electrocute myself or start a fire.

Not sure on the SRT specifically, but the fuel pump relay is usually a good trigger, as it's only on when the motor is actually running.

Remove the fuse that says radio (in the car) and jam the wire in one of the openings that the fuse just sat in. Then plug the fuse back in and you are ready to go. That is 12v switched.

i'm not big on jamming wires into the fuses so i unbolted the fuse block and soldered the wire into the back. I chose the fuse that controls the sunroof since my car doesn't have one. This was a good spot for me because my wire was the only one using that fuse so i didn't have to worry about overloading any single fuse. So then i just stripped/soldered and was on my way.

What about the engine bay fusebox? Same thing, just tap a fuse in there?

use a test light or meter and find a switched 12 volt source. this is not a hard thing to do, but make sure you put a fuse on the hot lead or you can be asking for trouble..

Okay I'm not getting it. I tried tapping all the 20 amp fuses in the engine bay fuse box, and the pump kicks on even with the ignition off. Is there any switched source in the engine compartment, or do I need to go to the in-cabin fuse box to find one?

I just ran it through the cabin. If you look in the footwell, there is a gromit above the clutch pedal. It is the easiest place to get through the firewall.

Okay, I got the switched source working from the in-cabin radio fuse. Thanks!

I used the reverse light wire that comes off of the trans so that I didn't have to run more wires into the car.

for the record, all the fuses in the engine bay have constant power going to them and can not be used for a switched source
