Default Stock PCM w/ meth and 20g

Ok another meth question, Wanting to know if running 27 or 28 psi is possible on my set up. I have a hahn 20g with a tial 38mm ext gate, hahn 02 housing and stock dp with a turn for a 2.5" side ext, all intercooler hard piping, 3" front mount, 650cc injectors, afc neo, aem intake, aem wideband. The only reason why I am questioning this is because I have the stock comp right now. I am currently running 21psi. Any help on this would be great just didnt know if it will be enough to get around the stock comp?

Thanks In Advance!

Meth doesn't care what PCM you are running. You just need something to pull fuel because you will run rich.

You have a neo so you're fine.

So running 27 or 28 psi will depend on how it works out with the fuel map and afr then correct?

Havent changed any sensor's it is an 05, and have pushed past 18 with ease and no problem, I believe that is what the neo is for.

do you have a scan gauge?

does the neo control timing? NO. you just because you push more than 18psi doesnt mean that you're making more power with stock sensors.

the meth will help, but you should consider getting a dsp and some 3bar sensors. this plus that meth kit will be awesome

that doesn't matter with the neo he has.

OP, don't run 27psi on a 20g with meth and pump gas. your exhaust is too restrictive for the flow of a 20g to begin with. i see you don't have a scanguage. i can guarantee you that with over 23-25psi on pump and meth you are showing at least 3-5degrees of knock. this is all dependent on how much fuel you are pulling out with the 650's. to maximize the potential of the 20g, YOU NEED A RETURNLINE. that can't be said enough. the 20g will knock at 20psi on a bad tune without meth. its just not a great turbo for our cars. now, 10 gallons of race gas, meth, and 28psi should put you well into the 400-425whp range. the 20g has been tuned over and over and over again here, and it's just a bad combo with our engine. i personally have MAXXED out a 20g with a returnline and s2 injectors, and i still had to pull fuel with the dtec, and run a low base pressure to keep from flooding the cylinder walls. this was on a m10 meth nozzle, 100% meth at 25psi, 93 pump gas. scanguage shows about 3* of knock between 4600 and 4800rpm. it can't be tuned out without DSP or race gas. If you want to maximize the potential of your 20g, port and polish your head, get cams(at least 16's), a 3" o2 housing from ptp,a DSP and a returnline so you don't run too much timing. At that point, you should be around 425whp at 25-27psi with a little knock on a good tune, and with the lag of the 20g, you'll still lose to .63 a/r 50 trims and stock turbos will walk you from a dig(you should be able to catch up by the 1/8th).

the prob with the 20g is you need to run HIGH boost to push all the air that it can flow. a 650cfm turbo is a BIG turbo, and the 20g can make that at 20psi. the issue is, on the srt engine, you need to force feed 27psi+ in order to get the engine to breathe that much air. you'll notice on the compressor map for the 20g, that on a srt engine with stock head/cams at 6000rpm, you are to the right of the choke line at 27psi. that is bad. there is little room for gain of cfm between 3000 and 6000 rpm at a more reliable boost range(20-23psi) and usually by the time you hit redline, your really only flowing about 550cfm at 23psi. still good power, but not what the 20g is good for. 7000rpm with a free flowing head and 450whp would be EASY on pump and meth with the 20g.

do yourself a favor, and don't do what i did. i maxxed out a worthless turbo. although, now i am rebuilding my 20g with a 35r compressor. this was really popular with the syclone and typhoon guys in the 90's. i also have a 50 trim on order, because like i said above, the 20g by itself is just not worth sinking money into(unless you get it used for 650cdn like i did)

i hope some of this helps at all.

By the way, you can buy a bolt on T3 holset hx 35/40 or h1c with a 3 bolt exhaust side that will fit perfectly with your hahn o2 hsg. that's another great option. An hx35/40 will make 400whp on pump/meth at about 22psi. its also just as cheap and easy to rebuild as the MHI chra's.

Yes I have a scan gauge, and yes I know the neo does not control timing. If my comment before about the neo came off as a smart remark I did not mean for it to.

please tell me how it doesnt matter? the pcm will pull timing @ over 18 psi with stock sensors

and LOL @ absolutely needing a return line with a 20g.
not too many people max out thier turbo... so unless hes over 400whp he doesnt need a return line, just a good tune.

do have any clue what your talking about? without a scanguage the timing is way too high when tuning fuel out with a neo. the 20g is not a good turbo for this. and when tuning with a neo/dtec/mapclamp/emanage you hide boost from the pcm, so it will never know he's above 18psi. please stop posting in threads about tuning until you get a clue.

OP, good luck with the 20g mang!

I have meth and 3bar sensors on stock 03pcm and im running great. Im boosting 28psi On a 50 trim and tuning w a dsp. Everything is running great and only 1* of knock at like 3200rpms. Get some 3bar sensors and ull be good.

the safc will control timing (kinda) by clamping the boost referance you are adding timing in an indirect way, there are 100 ways to skin a cat the safc is just robbing peter to pay paul

this thread is full of fail. There have only been about 3 posts that have any good info in them. people saying an afc can't control timing, and that 18psi on a stock pcm with afc will run stock timing need to get an education before posting in threads like this. This is why I wish the OP could have control over deletion of replies in his/her thread. It would make cleaning up threads so much easier, and take a lot of work away from the mods.
