Small piece inside DO outside injector

Well i took out the injector to clean it, and a lil piece fell off, One side has a line across it (like flathead screwdriver), and the other one has 4 small lines on the edges.

I just put it back with the flathead side up, which from searching is incorrect. How does this affect the spraying?

the 4 slashes go towards the orifice of the nozzle and the slotted side towards the filter. If its the other way around it needs to be changed because its going to spay like a squirt gun and not like a mist.
