skittle is technically correct. But both have been used.
A 50/50 mix is a long standing calc for use because 1) its simple and 2) when theres a mix is allows the best attributes of both.
Given that, there's nothing to prevent the average person from finding the best results for their application by testing. As a for instance I found that a 80/20 - 70/30 mix worked well. My premise of this was that I only wanted to add enough methanol that showed a plus from adding it..............meaning that for me adding more methanol past 30% with my setup did not show up in the final performance results. For another user a 60/40 or 50/50 (weight or volume = no biggie) might show to be best. It really does boil down to the actual car, the cars configuration, the climate and the altitude.
To test for best mix, for the most part, it does not require tools or tuning ability...........it only really involves trying things over a period of weeks. I was committing to a mix for one week or tank fill up, and then added in more methanol for the next week or tank fill up. I started with pure distilled water and added bottles of Heet (100% methanol) till things did not show up in that adding more methanol did something I noticed.
Use a basic electronic scale for weighing if that suits you or use the same plastic jugs you get when buying distilled water OR buy a plastic fuel container............just make sure that if you use a plastic fuel container that you buy it brand new and consider its use to be dedicated to the W/A system.
