On the scan gauge that can be setup to warn based on a trigger point setting, this is the Aeroforce gauge correct?
If so what versions of the gauge have this functionality?
Can any parameter be set up as a trigger?
Can multiple parameters be setup as a trigger?
Can the gauge, when a trigger point is met also send voltage signal output to another device or relay?
If the gauge can send a voltage to another device is anyone currently using this functionality, comments to what they think about it?
Having a device (in this case a scangauge) that can monitor a parameter such as the knock count of the engine and then send a voltage on a trigger point is a big plus. Having it monitoring multiple parameters is even better..................EGT is one........A/F is another (unless I'm wrong I think the Aeroforce can take an A/F input). I have a Zeitronix that's doing this but it's not capable of seeing a PCM cleaned up knock count.
Electronics are faster then humans so having the trigger set up to interface with a boost control solenoid so as to cut boost to just WGA pressure is something to seriously consider if the interfacing is not cost prohibitive (if its built in, then there's no reason not to use it).
Rhunter, this would be fantastic for nitrous users as well.............example: if A/F above this XXX, and EGT above this XXX, and knock is above this XXX, then trigger a relay to cut boost and cut power to nitrous and fuel solenoids. XXX would be thresholds users could enter based on what they learned to set or what a tuner advised them to set them at.
Take a look at this image to see what I'm driving at:
APPLICATIONS
AFR too rich The alarm activates when too rich mixture is detected.
AFR too lean The alarm activates when too lean mixture is detected.
A combination of AFR too rich and AFR too lean alarms can be used to tune for a specific AFR window.
EGT too high The alarm activates when EGT exceeds a safe user selected level.
RPM too high Shift-light functionality with a bonus of audio alarm and a relay trigger.
TPS too high The alarm activates when TPS exceeds a selected level.
USER1 Input too high The alarm activated if a sensor connected to the USER1 input exceeds a selected level.
USER1 Input too low The alarm activated if a sensor connected to the USER1 input is lower than a selected level.
Relay trigger: Open or close a relay circuit to activate or deactivate additional devices at a set warning level. Typically used to add a control to your boost setting, nitrous or alcohol injection and other devices capable of engine destruction.
The parameters can be selected as a Simple or a Complex Warning.
A Simple Warning is set when any of selected parameters exceed preset warning level. Simple Warnings are independent from each other.
A Complex Warning is set when all selected parameters exceed preset warning level.
In an example below a warning will be activated if the EGT exceeds temperature of 920C OR if the Input1 exceeds 3.4V.
Also, a warning will be activated if the AFR mixture will be leaner than 12.8 AFR AND at the same time the boost level exceeds 23 PSI.
