I have purchased some 100% Alcohol from a speed shop.

Would you reccomend when mixing it with regular water I use windshield washer fluid or just regular water? Because someone told me tonight not to mix it with windshield fluid to get my 50/50 mixture

Sorry if this was already addressed earlier in this thread (I was too lazy to look through the whole thing), but what is the recommended fluid to run with Coolingmist kits? I see some nice looking -20degree washer fluid at Advance Auto that indicates it has at least 35% methanol. Would that be okay? Nice and simple/cheap.

Thanks!

Thad

50/50 is a common mix to use. I cant tell you to run windshield washer fluid, however check the ingredients, you can run water/meth or denatured alcohol with no problems.

So there isn't a problem with antifreeze? Or is there? I notice that lots of times all you get for an ingredients list is a notice about whatever poisonous ingredients are in there. . .

Every store that sell chemicals is required to carry an MSDS. It tells you the chemical composition, handling/storage procedure, along with a ton of other stuff. I would ask a store for that.

As far as windshield washer fluid goes, make sure it does not contain detergents. Quickest way to tell is shake the bottle and look for bubbles.

Cool, thanks for the tip!

I was at Menard's the other day, and they had some purple stuff that was rated for -35F. It said it was flammable, so I was thinking it may have been in the 50% range already. I'll have to do a little bit of checking around. Too bad there isn't a known favorite brand out there that everyone tends to use as a standard already.

Thad

P.S. Oh, why no detergents? Doesn't seem like they'd do anything to anything when used like this? ? ?

but does it matter how close or far away the nozzle is from the sensor?

For an application that isn't an SRT-4, with a custom IC setup, same side in and out top to bottom flow, is the optimum location as close as possible to the outlet of the intercooler so there is maximum evaporation/cooling time and distance?

Second question, is it best to mount the nozzle on the bottom of the pipe so gravity might work to the advantage of holding the water in the airstream a hair better?

I go to my local speed shop and get it for around $6/gallon. I was only able to find +35 degree windshield fluid at Advanced and Autozone...i'm running that so far, we'll see how it goes. (For a mix atleast)
