Default Aquamist HFS-5 + DDS3 install with Port Injection

I'll be receiving the balance of my kit soon. This thread will be to fully document all of the install. Since I am starting this thread, I can delete it and start it over if the jackasses get out of hand, and I promise I will do it over and over, if there is any ass in here.

The PDF is here and will be updated as I progress. Updates will be posted.
Here is the pdf

02/27/07 First PDF
03/01/07 Spliced in the wires for PMC
03/09/07 Updated PMC & Jet Adapters
03/10/07 Lots of stuff done
03/11/07 Just some more pics
03/24/07 Added commentary

Code:
The install will consist of :
4- Special Port Jets capable of 98cc/m @125PSI
1- Cold Side pipe jet ( final size to be det@ install time.)
Everything else sold with the HFS-5 Kit.
I will be looking to flow from 0 - ~620cc/min of water.
This translates to 0- ~20% water to fuel ratio for S3R@75PSI for Fuel.

Scenario #1
The goal, is to HOLD HOM, on 93 octane, with 100% water. Failing that I will try a 50/50 mix.
I have been able to hold HOM on 93 octane with 1 step colder plugs @ DAB1 ( 15PSI).
I was able to record that with the DevilsOwn controller WI reduced my knock from 5 deg to 0 at those settings.. Above DAB1 (>15PSI) I have not been able to hold consistently.

Scenario #2

If the above fail to hold HOM ( DAB3 =~22PSI), I have a neat little prototype device from Aquamist that will trim fuel in accordance to the water flow. More water = more fuel trimming. This will all be wired into the DDS3V8, so if shit goes wrong, the car will revert back to FULL factory conditions in a heart-beart. The design behind this device is SO simple, but the capabilities are IMO more advanced than a SAFC.

If you don't mind me asking; how much is this setup going to cost?

The group buy is for $650. I ended up adding about $120 more in additional parts. For me in the end the cost is about $500, since I sold my old kit and I already have the dds3.

I don't think this is cheap by any means, but for my goals, this is 1 of 2 kits I know of that could help me achieve my goal.

The kit will repay for itself, after about 10 Tanks of gas, if I achieve my goal.

Cali Please keep us posted on your results. You are S3R and still under the control of the S3R ECU?

Good luck, Cali. Please post your relevant mods. I have an Aquamist 2d that I'm going to eventually install with a DDS3.

That is correct and that is the ultimate goal! to stay under the "man's" control!

Power mods on the car:
S3R
Iceman Sperm Intake
MaxxFab 02 housing and side exit/ cat installed.
Lorenzo TB and Adapter
EXhaust Depot Wuss IC

I've decided to change the approach of the thread. I will link to a pdf with all the info, and update the thread as I add more info. I'll also add the power mods list to the pdf to keep everything together.

I would like to point out, I will go to scenario #2 even if #1 works.
Reason being, with the special device that will trim fuel, I expect to still be under the PCM control, and by trimming fuel, I'm expecting a change in my max boost (maybe up to 5PSI). Currently I peak about 21.xx on the aeroforce gauge@ DAB3

What's the reason for the jet in the coldside pipe? Are you placing it before the sensor to be able to advance the timing?

3 reasons really:

1. I had a nozzle there before and dont want to repalce my hard pipe.
2. Technical articles have showed spraying closer to the combustion chamber promotes higher knock resistance, while further away provides more cooling. Rather than shoot 600cc at my intake valves, I'll be somewhat doing a more balanced attack.
3. For fine tuning...rather than playing with 2-3 sets of different DP jets, I can play with one jet in the cold side for fine tuning. 3 jets are cheaper
than 3 sets of DP jets, buy a LOT of $.

I will get a more aggressive timing curve when not in HOM mode, but thats not my goal because when you put the car in HOM mode, you automatically get that crazy timing curve. Its just an added bonus.

Pit,
Its the factory color. Are you offering me a PnP manifold for real cheap?

Sounds cool. Good luck with it. If you really didn't want to run a nozzle in the hardpipe, couldn't you get a plug for it?

Yes, but reference reason #2 and #3 especially #3.

BTW: First post has been updated, with the first pdf. I'll update as I go.

The MAP signal has been spliced for the Fuel Trimming Device ( aka PMC- Progressive map clamp). I ran out of coloured shrink tubing so no pictures today
