hey guys, i just installed my AEM Methanol injection kit, but I seem to be running into some problems. Im getting over 12 volts to the switch, and when I flip the switch the indicator light turns on, but then turns off to show that there are no error codes, but when I go to test the pump using the TEST button, the pump does not spray or turn on, and the indicator light does not flash to show the test proceeding. I checked power at the pump and at the two red connections i only seem to be getting around 4-5 volts, i tried to fuse the connection on the way to the pump, and the same thing happens. Anyone have any ideas?? Thanks
well now the pump will turn on and test spray for only about 2 seconds, then the status light turns off and the pump stops spraying, so i believe all my wiring is in check, and i also dont get any sort of error codes from the light itself, so I dont know what to do. Anyone any ideas??
I tapped into a power source near the e-brake when I lift up the center console, its a small plug with three wires going to it, and the plug goes to nowhere, i found one of the wires had a 12 volt power source, so i tapped into that, and grounded the unit under the center console as well, im getting my 12 volts to the pump, but like I said it dies after 2 seconds...should I just send it straight to the battery and fuse it at 15AMP before it gets to the pump?
thats what i did.....make sure you have good grounds and you have good 12v power to your arm switch/controller. your led will light up for a couple seconds when you give it power then when you go into boost/test it the light should turn on. when you prime it for the first time you will hear the pump and it will take a few seconds for it 2 start spraying.
how did you wire up your arm switch?? because I did it a different way and I think that may be my problem too. I didnt use the ARM wire from the alcohol unit, I just ran a power from the pump to the switch then from the switch to the power source next to the e brake. I also ran the power from the controller to the same switch so when I turn on the switch it powers up the pump and the controller. But i couldnt figure out how to wire the ARM switch the way that AEM recommends..could you tell me how you hooked it up??
you dont need a switch on the pump....the switch goes 2 the controller.
you need a 12v power source going 2 the switch AND the controller to make the system active, i used the power from the cigg lighter....it was right where i mounted the controller so i figured i would use that for the switch and the led since its only on when the key is on. i ran a seperate power wire for the pump. you should have 4 wires going to the pump/tank (white, brown, orange and whatever you use to power the pump). i mounted the controller in the little cubby under the ac controls and put the led on the cover. i used the cigg lighter for power to both the switch and the controller. you have to connect the yellow wire to the switch. when you flip the switch the light should come on for a couple seconds 2 let you know the system is armed. let me know what happens.
