Default fuel woes after 255lph install.

Well after I did a returnline, a 255 with the bottleneck fix and the fuel pump rewire, whenever I get to about half tank the car wants to run lean under boost. As long as its over half tank it runs fine. I have pulled the canister out and checked for anything amiss, and so far nothing. Does anyone have any ideas?

i actually just did the same fuel mods about a week ago and it runs amazing... what type of fuel line did you use for the bottle neck fix? is it going lean only or does it stumble like its starving for fuel? make sure you lined the canister tab with the gas tank tab when reinstalling so that the canister isnt in their sideways causing it to run dry when half empty...

wow, thats kinda a strange situation

i would pull it out and double (or tripple) check everything, maybe it something simple like the canister is prone to face up or the pick up screen is miss aligned

No ive had it out twice now, and made sure the cansiter is lined up, the guage is correct and the only thing I can think of is somehow the pickup for the 255 isnt getting a good enough supply from the canister pick up to keep up with the demand when below half tank. Im stumped.

Sounds like the oring on the filter that attaches to the outside of the canister may be missing or fubarred.

Is the bottom of the fuel pump strongly flushed against the bottom of the canister? possible that its loose in the canister and your pump is sucking fuel from inside the canister and not through the filter sock and when its half empty the canister is not completely full of gas... but then you would prolly get stumbles cause of the lack of fuel, hope you figure it out man.. def. take some pics..

another thing what fuel filter are you using? make sure that is hooked up correctly (not backwards) and that it can handle your fuel pressure, i use the earl's 85 micron 80 psi and it works good.

No it wont sit flush with the bottom due to the 255 having a filter of its own. I bought a used 255 from a local buddy who was upgrading to a bosch 44 in his talon. I know it will support what im doing because he was putting down over 450AWHP with this pump, the only difference I can see is that it is the older style 255 and not the newer style that the srt guys usually buy. Regardless a pump is a pump, and it should work. Ill take some pics when I drop it again. Stupid thing is annoying as hell.

The problem with that is, even aftermarket 255's come with a filter also, on top of doing the bottleneck fix the pump wont sit in the original spot, ive tried looking through here for more in depth coverage on how too's for the bottle neck fix but there still pretty vague. who knows. Im about to can it and get a different pump.

Ok figured out my problem, after doing a little better research I found this thread and it explains the correct methods. I have a "floating pump" so it is not sealing on the bottom. Thank you guys for your input, I will update after I get it fixed to let you all know how it went down. this is a link to the thread. This thread should be stickied!
