couple questions ??

OK, well I'm very close to done. I am using the modified canister just like nacho (thanx for the write up buddy ) I got the pre filter and outlet fitting from jayracing (mega bux ). I am using 3/8 gates intank fuel line and an assortment of barb to AN fittings.

my major concern is the wireing and what my best option would be, the stock wire looks a bit weak (14-16gauge) and I dont want to reuse it and have to worry about a possible fire in the tank SO, I could carefully remove and reuse the stock terminals (with some solder) but then I worry about the lingering loose connection and spark I could use some terminals that will work kinda OK for the job OR I can just hard wire (with solder ) to the harness.....HELP

I have searched the internet for 3 days looking for these terminals (or something close) and the best I have came up with is the ford mini box terminals but I dont wanna risk a loose connection and spark

If you're worried about spark in the tank, try this:

I seriously considered doing an external pump but was unsure how well these pumps "pull" fuel

Actually, it would probably flow better than using the jayracing.com sock:

For those who have or want to run In Tank Bosch 044 - RX7Club.com

I'll probably go with the pegasus racing filter if I do go with an in-tank 044.

Our socks sit off the bottom of the tank a fair bit. I've not had an issue.

This won't collapse:

I wonder if there's enough room in the tank to fit one of these.

ok so i just finished mine and i changed up a few things from your design. i Noticed when i put my Worm clamp around the canister to lock the pump in place it was at a odd angle, now you cant really put the clamp to far down because of the float. i noticed a tab sticking off the near the float not sure what it does but i notched it and ran my Worm clamp through there. it then locked the pump down nice and solid to the little ledge that is inside of the Canister itself.

these first TWO pics are Nacho's from the first post the Second two is how i changed mine up. just thought id throw in my .02 for people trying this out.

my re-design

Has anyone looked at building some sort of surge tank into the main tank? It would seem that it could be as cheezy as the bottom of a flexible plastic container (perhaps a small gas can) with a small number of little holes drilled into in (fore and aft). Squeeze this through the tank opening, and then place it to where the pump sock sits right in the middle of that tray. Thoughts?

lol, I did almst the same thing but I just cut off that plastic piece for the second clamp, I came close to cutting off the fuel level sender and attempting to re-locate it so the pump would be compleetly enclosed but got lazy
