What helps Big turbo's spool faster....

well as you can see I have the GT3040bb turbo it spools very quick for a turbo of its size... now by spool I mean when it starts making boost (in 3rd gear if I floor it it spools at 2800rpm's) so If I wanted to get it to spool at lets say 2k rpm's what kind of Porting , Valves , Cams , etc. would I need..
This post is mainly addressed to the Vendors & forum members that do Cylinder head work...
Please shed some insight on this, cause I have no idea of WHAT to look for when I plan to get port work done...
and also I'll probably be getting 9.1:1 forged CP pistons in the stock bore...

The first things that come to mind are, nitrous, brake boost, porting and polishing anything you can find, and a heavy tail-wind.

The last one is usually free, so you should look into modding the weather into your favor first.

Yup, higher compression would do it, hotter EGT's. A small shot to n2o would be a good choice as well.

193-0014 crane cams..

Features our unique ”split duration” lobe profile design (exhaust duration is less than intake duration) ”Spools” turbo faster for quicker boost and response. Reduces turbo lag time. Strong upper mid to top end with turbo. For max power use intercooler and low restriction intake/exhaust. RPM range 1,500-6,800

Set of Cams , higher compression pistons and some nitrous to the turbo will surely spool the turbo pretty fast

I am currently looking at Cams at the moment

supercharge it!!! talk to ant or mike at psi-fi

and if anyone says its not possiable im going to lose it! its been a long day so i will say it once and only once. if you say it wont work FUCK OFF!!!

there now that its said. a whipple S/C will drastically drop your lag, it will spool exactly like stock, i promise! talk to psi-fi

If you have standalone engine managment, there are several tricks that good tuners will know to get the turbo to spool faster. I had trouble getting my 50 trim hubrid to spool, and as it turned out, it was resolved with better fuel and ignition tuning.

Of course.. i can't see why your complaining... getting some boost by 2800 RPM isnt bad at all. Sure, it doesn't spool as fast as a stock SRT-4.. but.. the stock turbos spool way too fast anyway.

to TEX, I'm looking for mainly 500rpm quicker... cause if it spooled like stock, I'd never be able to get the power to the ground and plus whipples are pretty pricey.....
and to Contraption22- I do not have a stand alone I currently have the E-manage/E-01 combo....
this is one of the roads I might take Porting & polishing for velocity.. and either split duration cams or 2.0L cams...... this is what I would like to do now before the piston/rod swap next summer....
what do you think
