Default what is this all about pics inside!!

ok took my valv cover off to fix gasket and found this on one of my cams.
what is causing this to happen and would it be ok to drive on this still?? it's my DD.

thats bad

I would assume that the rockers might be bad or going bad....


Id replace the cams at the least....


cam gears didnt jump a tooth or something stupid.....?

there aint a groove or anything on it, it's just rough feeling well i guess it just gives me a reason to buy cams im gonna go out there and see if it jumped a tooth.

dont replace your cams, you wil lend up with the same problem over time, how many miles are on your engine?

are all your lobs(sp) like that? intake aand exhaust?

not all of them are like that just on that one camshaft closes to the front of the car. there are 4 lobes that have scares on them i already put the valv cover back on it but i think it was the four in the middle (i know that aint a big help) but the rest were fine.

Guessing he shld change more then just the cams.. maybe watevers rubbing on the lobes to cause the rough spots..

you guys think maybe the rollers on the rockers are worn out?i just dont understand why it would just happen on 4 lobes and not them all!! what do you guys think all i should change?

Cams are eroding. Likely wernt hardened enough from the factory.

Seen it many times, mostly on the 2.0L and 3.5L

Improper hardness on the cam shafts from the factory. Get them out of the car and get a new one installed. I would try to get another stocker from someone off the forums.

What kind of oil are you using? I'd hate to see what you bearings look like...I would suggest sending out an oil sample to a testing lab.
