You can, modern sells the springs alone. they're around $75, alot better than 250 for more than you need. I saw somewhere on this site that the retainers are good up to 7200 i think. unless you're running an ems, you're limited to the 7000 that most flashers go up to.

Stock retainers can work well beyond the 7200rpm range but it's about proper valve control at rpm that matters in a competition setting. High lifts, plus the heavy weight of stock cromoly retainers (compared to Ti retainers) make the valve springs have to work harder, and you can get move valve bounce and less valve control. Again, at high rpms. Not to mention reduced wear on the valvetrain.

these are my observations over the years, I would say that if you are running a cam that is ~3.400"lift or higher, and/or running beyond the 7200-7500rpm+ range on a regular basis, Ti retainers and dual valvesprings are the way to go. Also an oil modifier such as Realtune's is a very good option too.
