Default Valve Lift Question

I am shopping for a new set of cams, my question though is how much valve lift can we have before our non-interference motors become interference? As of now I am torn between the crane 12's or 16's, not too impressed with the 14's other than the spoolup but I hear they fall flat in the upper RPM's and that hte 16 would be best for my turbo. Just do not want to turn my motor into an interference motor in the process, never know when something is going to happen, let alone that type of damage on top!

Eh.. not 100% sure about the stock pistons, but I think that someone mentioned they were cutting it pretty close with crane 18's.

hmm, well I am planning on in the not-too-distant future of building the lower end as well, although I did not plan on changing any of the stock dimensions, was just planning on rods and pistons in stock size.

I have a head that was taken off an SRT4 with Crane 16's. It is a Race Port DCR with over sized valves. The only reason it was sold to me, is because of a shattered rod that bent the #3 exhaust valves. That had nothing to do with the vtv clearance or the vtp clearance. As for my personal knowledge, I don't know. Call DCR or Rage-tek about cams and your choices. I know DCR said that with that head, I need 16s or bigger to get max performance.

BTW I will be upgrading it to the DCR Signature Series and will be using 18's or BC S3's.
