Default Simple Info needed on Timing Job

Hey everyone, I just have a small question about a recent ( 2 days ago) timing belt job done on my car. I changed out the timing belt with a gates blue racing belt, water pump, idler pulley and tensioner pulley (9mm w/ bracket from Oreiliey). Everything went on fine according to my shop mechanic and he adjusted the tensioner for the small whine he incurred when started up and tested. The question is, I used to run -20 hg steady vac at idle and now its between -14/-18 and I have a slight lope in my idle. There are the same cams and sprockets on the car that it came with. I read in other posts that it could be one tooth off that causes this issue WITHOUT causing a CEL for timing or cam misalignment. Could someone please give any advice before I tear it down again with my mechanic this coming weekend as to if that is the case? Also whats the recommendation for adding cams/sprockets to a Stage 0 , simple bolt on SRT...Intake and FM WGA only...Any help would be appreciated

What ^ said.

Line up the mark on the crank sprocket with the triangle on the oil pump this is (TDC) and then check and see where the timing marks are on the cam gears. You can do this yourself, only takes a few minutes to do.

^^^x3. just make sure that you and your mechanic arent using the actual crank sprocket tooth that the little arrow lines up with on the oil pump. the arrow on the pulley sits just to the back side of the tooth it sits next to. then double check the marks on the gears above and you should be able to get lined up in a couple mins.

just cause the gears line up does mean that your timing is set right. when you use the exhuast cam gear to take out the slack in the belt between the two gears.... sometimes it will pull the crank out of place. the gears will still line up but the crank pulley mark wont be lined up with the mark on the oil pump

Default Update***

Appreciate all the Replies! My mechanic admitted that hes diagram from some timing manual was different from how its supposed to be done and another mechanic concurred with that information so I will be tearing it down friday to fix the error. Thanks all for the info...Could someone point me as to which way to go on new cams and sprockets for the next month's power adders? I have basic boltons - Intake-FM WGA- plugs/wires- Open DP coming next week...Just need a guide on what stage / brand/ options to use with a cam build...
