The exhaust cam gear, or the furthest to the firewall, should be 1/2" below the intake cam gear.

No your timing belt is on and the tensioner is set so your good. BEFORE you put the belt on it's supposed to be a half inch off so it'll straighten up when you slide the belt on.

Now the tensioner is funky to set imo, just make sure you have the pin in the center when you tighten the bolt down. And once it's tight check again because I had mine move around when I'd go to tighten the bolt down.

I think you're then supposed to rotate the oil pump sprocket two full revolutions then check again. Long ass process if you ask me.

I always thought exhaust was 1/2 inch behind intake. That looks 1/2 inch ahead to me. I haven't done this yet but I'd like to be sure.

With the belt on, tensioner adjusted correctly, rotate the crank twice, line the crank to the trailing edge of the tooth (which you have in the pic) take a peice of paper and like it up accross all 4 timing marks on the cams. The center 2 will be up a hair off the peice of paper.

That is the best way to know if its in time.

Nevermind. I just looked it up on alldata and yours looks perfect.

They say;
"Set camshafts timing marks so that the exhaust camshaft sprocket is a 1/2 notch below the intake camshaft sprocket (Fig. 137). CAUTION: Ensure that the arrows on both camshaft sprockets are facing up."
