Default Newb question about cams

I have a 04 srt-s I just picked up. It has some basic mods:
custom 2.5inch intake, mopar sts, spec 6puck clutch, atp coldside with hks ssqv, agp blockoff plate, godspeed fmic, billy boat turbo back, full agp mounts, and agp wastegate actuator and i'm running about 17psi...

I still have stock fuel and was wondering if on srt-4's cams are a big upgrade. I would like to stay with the stock turbo for now... I had a awd dsm that I made pretty fast and am just jumping in the srt-4 world... On my dsm when I put 272's in my car it was one of my fav upgrades... I just want a quick car not too much... My main question is do I need to put any fuel upgrades in the car to put more aggressive cams in it... I know I can't turn the boost up but can't find any info on cams... Thanks

well cams and the power you achieve could be from 10-30hp im sure, but without some head work you would not get the full benefits of cams. now cams will help mid range and top end on any car with cam gears you can adjust them to achieve a better power band. now if you do buy cams your car will be fine since you have a 04 you have the upgraded fuel injectors.
if you want to make more power does your car have a 3in o2 housing? getting a ported manifold will net you some good power as well. those two mods are good for 15-50hp a ported compressor housing and a throttle body are good mods too.

why not buy some fuel mods and max out the stocker instead cams/gears and etc. to go along with it?

cams would be a waste for ya, there are a ton of guys 500+ on stock head and cam. truth is with out the proper set up you will lose over all power. get a turbo and crank up the boost stock head and cam's dont start sufficating till 24++ psi or in the low 400's
