Default need some help

Im a total noob when it comes to cams, I have searched but couldnt find some answers...

First of all I have a GT3076R setup with boltons & stock bottom end and head, going to the track pretty often...

I was looking at some BC stage 2 cams, would those work okay with my setup? At first I thought about BC S3's but I read that they require built bottom end etc??... are stage 2's equivalent to crane 16's ? Or maybe you recommend me something better for my setup??

What exactly do I need along with my cams, only springs/retainers & cam gears? Someone was telling me about lifters, rockers etc. ?? do I need to change that??? or only springs & retainers?

I've read somewhere how some cam gears were real good whilst some others sucked and were hard to adjust or whatever it is ... I dont know if thats true but can you guys recommend me any GOOD cam gears?

Finally, can you install everything without having to remove the head from there, or not?

Thanks a lot for info!!

ultimately what are you looking for?
if you are staying stock head BC 2's should be fine.
if you want cam gears people are saying unorthodox is the way to go
i hate to tell you this but i would take the head completely off and at least lap the valves.
and no springs and retainers are not necessary

these next few things are not necessary

while the head is off find a good machine shop and get it ported, and replace head bolts with studs, and if you feel real froggy get a new head gasket from cometic i personally went with the four layer but you can stick with the 3 layer.

I would actually recommend a set of crane 14's for your setup with some mild work to the head. Reason being is the cams have a great split lobe pattern, with a smaller lift on the exhaust cam to help increase exhaust velocity. (More are freely coming in then being sqeezed out increases velocity for spool)

Cams gears are hit and miss. The unorthodox are great gears but expensive. The Fidanzas will do the job but may not last if you get the old style gears. I would highly recommend valve springs, and retainers along with gears. Gears are a must...

crane 14's are the way to go if you staying stock rev limit. If not than I would say crane 16's. those are the same cams I'm using and I have the gt30r turbo kit as well. I want to make power all the way to 7k redline.

Crane 16's are equivalent to BC stage 3's both will get the job done even with sotck head. we have crane 16's on a 3076 that made in thr 440-450 range. I have the BC stage 3's in my car with the stock head (other then the springs and retainers needed for the larger cam).

We have a killer sale going on with BC products. We have a cams, gears, springs, retainers, and our pnp cylinder head package for under $2000 if you really wanted to go all out.

I highly recommend the BC stage 3's. Note: you'll need the springs and retainers to be able to run the BC stage 3's.
