So I was asking around on my local forums for a head that I could have sent somewhere to get port and polished. Well this guy on there has one with 57k miles on it, and he asked me what I would give for it. Well I don't really know how much they go for. He didn't tell me if it has valves, springs, cams, or anything, so I don't know about that. I haven't seen pics or anything of it yet, so I don't know the condition. So assuming it's in good condition and it is bare, what would you offer for it? Another guy has one that has everything but the cams, but he didn't tell me the miles on it, and he is asking $350. Is that a good price. I was hoping I could find one without spending much over $200. Let me know what you guys think.

we can get brand new castings, bare (no valves/springs/ect) for ~$300. If it is with all the valvetrain components and/or cams, it shouldn't be that bad of a price. If you are looking into having upgrades installed, then perhaps a new core is a better route for you.

I was thinking that if I found a good used one than I could save a little bit of money. I was planning on buying all new upgraded valves, springs, cams etc.... then doing all the install myself. I think I've found a pretty good deal on one that has only 8500 +/-, which is pretty damn close to new. I'm just trying to do all the work myself. Gives me experience, and knowledge.
