Default Help. Timing belt issues?

Hello everyone im not sure if this place is the place to post for questions about timing belts but any help would be nice. Hello im at 94k the past couple of weeks i have been having this prob whn i try n floor it the car at WOT will just fall on its face. I have been hearing some belts squeak a bit also. But my real problem is that i was driving to school i pull up in the parking lot my car makes a grumbel n cuts off on me. I act cool and just coast into my parking spot. The car wont turn over for anything u hear the starter try n turn the car on n see the serpintie belts move. the battery is fine but i took a peek and the timing belt isnt moving. I think the timing belt is gone i havent took the cover fully off but i have come to grips that its gonna be that. Any info would be HIGHLY HELPFUL please help and thank you every1 in advance.

Best advice is to get it to a mechanic/dealer and have the belt replaced or are you looking for advice on how to change it yourself? If so theres some threads dealing with servicing the belt along with info in the factory service manual.

If the belt isn't moving it most likely snapped or the tensioner pully seized up and the belt is just hanging there. Follow a camshaft install guide to replace them. S&P sells the belt for like $55+ shipping or something and the tensioner can be bought from them, too. They're a vendor.

Or you can lube up your bum and pay for DCR's billet tensioner.

um....if the belt isnt moving at all im surprised your car even runs at all... are you sure youre talking about the TIMING belt and not one of the accessory belts, like the one that runs the alternator????

He said it made a grumble and shut off on him, and he wasn't able to restart...so the car does not run...

ok im moving slow im realizing there isnt much room 2 work here. i have the car on stands. taken off the passenger wheel and dust guard. Now i have fought with the top timing belt cover i have that off now. As of now i have 1 of the bottom scrws off from the splash gurad off. I think the belt may be bad becasue i see like rubber dust shavings on the cam gears its not a little bit its a nice little pile. Im taking my time trying to do this right i'll keep it updated if anyone wants to chime in on anything im on a water break thxs

You are going to need a service manual if you want to do it right. This is not a job to just try and figure out on your own.

You will need a 3 jaw puller and an assortment of washers. You will also need a bolt with the same threads as the crank pully bolt but longer to reinstall the pully.

Hey thanks i had 2 rent that 3 prong crank puller tool from Advance Auto parts for free that was good but my pushrod wasnt long enough so i got a steel screw and cut the head off and used that back up against my push rod and a couple of turns n pop goes my crank pully yay. After that i took off my lower dust/splash cover thing n it revealed my timing belt which is gone. I couldnt pull an all nighter i went 2 a party. But today I have to get everything lined up play with the tenisonmeter and install this new belt. the only thing is how will i get everything lined up if the belt is stripped and i can only turn from the crank? thxs for the help im posting pics in abt 3 min
