Default crane 18s on stock turbo and head

I was thinking about installing crane 18s when I go big turbo next spring sometime but would it hurt anything if I installed them now with valve springs and adj cam gears.....of course id have the cams tuned

mods are stock turbo with dsp 93 tune, mopar catback, fm wastegate, hand ported intake manifold with lfs 60mm tb and bwoody intercooler

I already have the cams new in the box for about 3 years now....they just never made it into my 1st gen n/a builds and are collecting dust

now if it wont hurt anything ill install them this winter and add my maxfab 02 housing and needswings downpipe and get a new tune on the dsp while I get the cam gears dailed in

1)you would need some springs
2) it would hurt your performance untill about 4-5000rpm
3) stock ecu cant deal with the low vacuum, you would need an expensive custom tune

As long as you get springs/retainers, I'm sure you can run it.

Not too sure if you'll gain much power from it but I would think it would help out up top a lil bit.

Many people are prolly gonna chime in & say that your crazy & wth would you do that for you'll go slower BUT 98% of the people won't even know for sure. They jus say it cause you "should" havea built head/big turbo to run this cam.

Try it out & tell us how you make out. I have PLENTY of buddies that run BIG cams in their evo's but are stock turbo lookin' to go big turbo in the future jus like you. Evo's heads flow alot better than ours but they ALL made good power on the rollers.

Crane 18's are great for stock turbo.
You'll need valve springs.
We made 327whp on 93 octane. 21 psi falling to 16.
You'll need injectors.
Don't believe the naysayers,
Nemo out.

I'm sure you're aware the Evo turbo is a TD05 so...we pretty much are comparing apples to grapes as far as our stock turbos versus theirs.

I have BC3's on stock turbo for now. Down low they always jump me but top end is usually pretty nice.

I would like to see that also, as I am sure you picked power in the top end but at what price

a 317hp dyno queen isnt much to brag about, if the VE dosent come in till 4k with the 18's VS. 2.5k with stockers whats the point loosing power down low with a tiny turbo is ass backwards....it spools with low VE = shitty bottom end and over worked baby turbo

just my rant about proper set up, did you degree the cams on the dyno
