Default BC retainers

I was just wondering for those that have them, how hard were they to get off to say replace the valves with bigger ones? If you did remove them how did you do it? I am triing to get mines off to install my +1mm valves but cant seem to get the retainers off. Any help plz

do you have a valve spring compressor? you need to compress the valve springs enough to get the valve keepers off of the valve stem. then after that you can remove the retainer and the valve spring... if your going to install 1mm over size valves you have to have work done on your valve seats to accommodate the larger valves. i would say get the machining done for the 1mm over size valves might as well get a 3 angle or 5 angle valve job too. get some new stock valve seals too. it wouldn't hurt

We called around and everyone had just regular compressor but none that would work for the DOHC set up. I got them off, I just used a hammer and a socket, hit them a few times and the locks came out. The machine that my dad was using wasnt pushing them down far enough due to the BC springs being stiffer. But its all apart now and hopefully by thurs Ill have my car back up.
