I have always wanted to cam my car. I'm not looking into extreme racing or nothing but want some good cams. I want something that is going to have a bad ass and noticable lope. I want choppy. What all do I need. I can do the work and the tools are not a problem. So far this is what i believe I need. Cam gears, springs and retainer clips, and cams. Is installing cams going to hurt me in anyway? power loss or strain on the motor. Please help. Thanks in advnace.

Well pt performance has some cams that are made for our car. That take in consideration of it being turbo charged and the over lap etc. I think it sounds bad ass. That is just my style. Do you have any reccomendations?
you could do 2.0 cams and some ur gears and get a lil lope without worrying about springs clips retainers etc. don't forget about the little things though. you'll need a new v/c gasket. plenty of rtv. a new timing belt. new water pump. new idler tensioner.
if lope is what you want go with brian crower stage 2's get cam gears and retard the exhaust gear 2-5 degrees.. anything past really over crane 14's or bc 2's you will need new valve springs/retainers. if drive-ability your not wanting then get big one's.. the reason for replacing the tensioner and water pump idler, valve cover gasket and the belt is you only want to do it once. after a while getting in there and tearing the car apart to change one of those parts takes time. cams right now with basic bolt on's is not something i see often. i requires time money and parts. if you have those then go balls deep!
mind you cams are about 365-500$ depending on brand. cam gears 180-350$. timing belt 40-80$ depending on oem or the gates model. tensioner about 80$ or get the DCR 150$. oem water pump 50$ upper gasket set 45$. rent the puller or buy one for the harmonic ballancer 50-130$. either you do the cams or pay a shop. free-500$. and doing cams on these cars takes time and patience. so for about 800$ you can have cams. we are just saving you a headache that all.

You can make any car lope like you want. Just throw on a set of cam gears and adjust the cams...........is there recommended? DEFINITLY NOT. "Most" of the times when your here the infamous lope the cams aren't dialed in at their proper locations.......Now if you get real big cams like crane 18's or < (or other brand equivalent) you will get some lope just because of the shear size.....Getting a baby BC stage 2 cam and offsetting them that radical is going to do nothing but hurt power (regardless if they are made specifically for a srt)...yeah you will get the "lope" but at what cost? a car that stalls on you at a light, a car that makes junk for power............
Stock turbo with bolt ons I'd recommend a BC stage 2.... Hell I even like the BC stage 3's on the stock turbo cars we have running around town with them.
BC stage 2 cams wont require you to run springs and retainers (unless you plan on revving the car out to 7300rpm +).....however the stage 3 cams do. Something you should take into consideration if $$ is a factor.
Again if money isnt a factor then look no further then Unorthodox cam gears. Expensive...but do not crack like their competitions. You could go with the new style fidanza's but those are a hit or miss....some have cracked on people but then again there's tons of people out there running them (like me) without any issues.
TUNE FOR POWER NOT LOPE! who knows....you might get lucky and get the best of both worlds just depends on how the cams are set and what setting reaps the most power.

Damn. That was the best bit of information I think anyone has ever given me. I'm going to look into it and work up some prices. Then see where I can go with that. Where is a good place to purchase these items?
