Default New Gears

I have ordered a set of 3.55 gears for my car, they should be delivered in about 4 weeks or so. I believe this is the real answer to putting our cars with a few mods in the 11's on a regular basis! Our cars just are not geared for drag strips, but have a lot of hp ( as proven by their trap speeds ), this lower gear will probably put stock cars into the 12.5 range? pulley and cai and a tune plus gears should mean a true 11 second car imo.

I've got an email into Gear Vendors overdrives to encourage them to produce a unit for the DC 5 spd, expensive but splitting our gears might be a great addition.

I am having them custom made at R&R out of washington state! They told me 4-6 weeks about 2 weeks ago so I should be able to report soon! I don't want to promote them till I see them come through. I'll keep the progress posted!

That will be huge bonus for this car, a bigger footprint will be required. What tires do you run on the street?

Right now 265/35/19 I may drop down to a 25 x 10.5 R17 once I get the gears! But I'm not sure if that will be too much, it's gonna be trial and error?!

Sup MD, So how much this run you? I deffinately think gears is the easy way to consistent 11's with these cars. I didn't realize how terrible our gears were for 1/4 mile launches till I compared it to other cars. The Bmw 335 auto is like a 3.46 (I believe). That explains why even tho that car weights more (other than TT factor) it posts similar numbers. Anyway, I'm still trying to track down an N/A's gearing (3.27) right now. I'm curious to see what the price difference would be with the N/A's and yours.

A complete n/a rear case with gears brand new is about $1700, used is about$850 custom gear set $2000, it's alot of money but if you think about it a tune, cai, pulley = $2K drops time about 1 sec? gearing should knock off .5 sec or so I believe, but then again nobody has done it on this car. So we will know in about a month!

Do you have programming options so ESP doest shut you down on this? In the LXs, at least, any gear size beyond stock is an instant ticket to limp mode. Just recently, Diablo has made changing that possible, but that fix wont work for Crossfires.
