Default Highly recommend the new Hoosier drag radials

Last night, I was supposed to rematch the GTO with the 150shot that beat me by a car length before. So I slapped on the new 275/40/17 Hoosiers. I was spinning on the 19" sumitomo's earlier in the day. With the hoosiers wheel spin is non existant. I couldn't even get the tires to spin when I attempted a burnout. I also launched with the traction control on one time and it never came on and just pulled hard. They are pretty stable as well, but I would hate to get caught in the rain. I went with these over the Mickey Thompson radials because they use plastic radials, making the Hoosiers 8lbs lighter a piece. The GTO backed out so we filmed how the race would have went down.

Nice!, I have got to do Something with my rear tires, I have hoosier drag radials on 19's and I have no sidewall and too tall of a tire, I'm looking for a rear wheel/tire combo that is about 25"-25.5" total diam. That still leaves some sidewall for flex.

these would be your solution, they are 25.6 OD. I can't say for sure if they would be enough to tame your beast since your making at least 150 more whp. They are about $400 for a set from Summit.

Default hoosiers

Welcome to the "Hoosier Daddy" club. I am getting ready to buy my next set. A whole 2000 miles of track time. Probably 60-80 passes tops. That might be a little high. Anyways the best tire for drag racing. If you don't want it for drag racing only then go with ZR rated drag radials from hoosier. I inquired about them and the rep from CA, said the ZR are not for drag racing. Stay with the R rated ones I use. I'm in a 255/R50-16. The sidewalls are softer and when you lower the pressure they become more like slicks. I'm at 15lbs now with the heat and they are working great. I wouldn't use them as daily drivers though. I won't even do a burnout on the street. I don't want to wear my precious rubber away unless a trophy is on the line. Just my 2 cents. Enjoy them, I am. 2 finals in 3 points races so far. $250 in prize money. It goes to the tire fund.

by the way my source sells my size for $366 a pair plus shipping. Usually $20 a tire. About the norm.

They don't sell them anymore. I bought them at discounttiredirect.com
BTW I got caught in a heavy downpour a couple weeks ago. I cruised about 40mph the whole way home and they seemed to be alright. Not to bad for a slick with two grooves.

Would a 35mm offset be better? I found some 17x9 mercedes wheels that i may pick up that have 35mm offset.

35 is better than 40, but a 22 like the stock rim would be best.
