I am not a drag race expert, but have made 50 or so passes. I generally leave at wide open throttle. Do others leave at part throttle then go wide open? My best 60' is about 1.75 with slicks and 600 hp. I've seen some go 1.75 on street tires and 400 hp! Please share various launch techniques and 60' times and kind of tires, I need some help in this arena. I average about 1.85 on a regular basis I think it should be better, but maybe this is normal with our setup ( all top end ) I am going to the drag strip in two weeks to practice, just looking for ideas. Thanks,
The SRT8 guys might need to chime in on this one, you are already at the top of the heap among the SRT6's. My best short time on the SRT6 is much slower than yours at 1.9 on street tires, by loading the converter until stall then going to WOT. With our chasis, gears, converter and slicks 1.75 could be the best there is. Pulling off or loosening the front sway bar and or changing out the shocks for more front end lift could be the next addition that could help out, but I'm leaving those alone...as my desire to run this car in non street trim is minimal.

We think a like, sway bar has been removed! ( take it off when heading to the track, then put it back on for daily use )

MD you have a line lock though, right? Or you footbraking? I can't get over 2500 rpm without pushing through the beams. I'm going to try and wipe down my fronts and drive around the water box. With my stocks I would go around and dry hop, but with my dr's I always roll in and burnout as usual. I'll go around and back in tonight and see how it holds. I normally burnout, then dry hop to make sure I'm stickin and then rev to about 2200 and average 1.84's 60' times. Never had 1.70's like the other guy on street tires. That's insane.

That's what I'm saying how did he get 1.70 on streets? Maybe some skills or some serious luck, but I'd say skill because he did it many times. I have only done that twice, thats with slicks, line lock, and some decent driving. Even with the line lock I still push through the lights at 2500+rpm.
Just got back from trophy round, lost 1st round with a break out. Oh gave me time to test launches like I wanted. Couldn't hold the car past 2500+ rpm without rolling the lights. One stage I lit the top bulb, loaded the car and went up above 2500 and moved past the second bulb into deep stage, like a big jump. Messed me all up and it felt like it shifted to 2nd. Tried 3 times and only cut one good light, and my 60's werent any better. I still managed a 1.83 in the heat, but my normal 2200 or less rpm launch. It was 90 degrees at 10pm at the track. To much power to hold back.
Our torque converters don't allow us to stall beyond 22-25, depending on the particular car. If only someone would make a higher stall converter for us, our short times would really fall. As with the gearing issues, wonder what the computer would do with a custom converter?
