Default installed boomba TB, now car runs like CRAP

like the title says, it runs horribly. it idles RIDICULOUSLY high, like 2000 rpms sometimes, when shifting, it never revs down, when i let my foot off the gas, it still drives as if my foot were on the gas or it had cruise control....my first suspicion was vacuum leak. the included seals are seted properly and all in perfect shape, its brand new, of course they should be. so i added a thin bead of silicon hoping it would cure the problem. nope, not one bit. i loosened the idle screw a teensy bit, all that did was make the throttle plate stick, but it still ran like crap. all vacuum lines are perfectly in place and not cracked or leaking, and i did a boost leak test with perfect results....any ideas? is this TB just TOO big for a stock turbo car?

on a side note, heres a comparison pic

yeah, its 18 mm larger than stock....its frikkin HUGE...when you hold the stock on in your hand, its like, damn this thing is tiny and light, and then you hold the boomba, and its like, you feel like you are holding 500 horsepower literally in your hand, it just FEELS and LOOKS badass just to have it....its like a drug almost whn compared to the stocker. i just hope i can find out what the problem is. since vacuum leak is pretty much ruled out with the addition of the silicone, the only thing i can think of now is bad idle control motor or bad throttle position sensor wiring....

I have the same problem. It won't go away and i've had mine on for about 4 months now. I've been debating on getting a Manifold to see if it will help take it away. haven't got around to doing it yet. Good luck

did you ever do the TP sensor fix? maybe the wires came apart, try wiggling them a little. And I think if you are mostly stock, yeah it may be too big. A ported stock unit has been holding high hp, so I don't think there is a need for such a monster

Could it be improper adjustment of throttle cable?? Like when replacing it, maybe you put it on too tight and now its keeping the plate open, hence the constant higher idle ?? Just a thought...

If you go with something that huge, ofcourse you going to have idle issues etc. A slight crack of that at idle is night and day comparison to the stock setup.

Everyone always wants bigger and badder but there car needs to be able to chew before it can swallow.

no the cable has noting to do with it, the car is holding its idle where it does all by itself. sometimes it will drop down, but most the time it stays messed up.

i thought so too, so i dropped the idle stop all the way till the throttle plate literally lodged into the bore. when i started the car it still opened the idle way up to 2000 rpms even when the plate was completely sealed shut when i first installed it.

ive talked to a few other people who put on larger TBs and they said it went away after a little while, so i guess i will try to ride this out for a while and see if it gets any better. if not, look for it in the for sale threads in a few weeks.

Almost sounds more like a TPS issue than a TB issue.

well, there was no issue at all BEFORE the install, so the problem must have occured while assembling or disassembling everything. if the problem doesnt fix itself by PCM intervention i am going to put the stocker back on and if the problem goes away then that will pretty much show that its the TB. if it still presents a problem, then i will buy a new idle air controller and throttle position sensor and harnesses for both and start fresh i guess...

That's the best thing to do. I know when I put my Lorenzo on I messed up the TPS somehow. But never know till you try!

If im correct there is an o-ring for the TPS sensor, when you put it in the new TB, also the IAC sensor can be the problem, most likely its NOT the TB itself but more a improperly installed sensor, the TPS sensor itself can leak and so can the IAC, check both.
